APA Template Assignment

Due: Friday, September 24 by 6PM.

Purpose: After completing this assignment you will be able to format and create the pages of an essay according to APA formatting. You will have a template to refer to when writing essays.

Your resources for this project:

· WRTG 101: APA Guide (7th ed.)

· Purdue OWL website (Google “APA” & “OWL” and it will bring you to the site) or use the link under the tab “APA Resources” in the course site

· “True North” (Leadership 301 book by Bill George) – it is available in the TWU library as an ebook

Instructions:

1. Refer to WRTG 101: APA Guide (7th ed.) and/or OWL Purdue and create a template for a Personal Response essay.

2. APA 7th ed. permits you to use several different types of font. For the APA template assignment and for all three essays that you will write for the course, use Times New Roman font, font size twelve.

3. The template will be 3 pages: a title page, paragraph page (writing page), and a References page. Pay attention to all details of formatting, including the title page layout, the page numbering, the margins, paper size, and line spacing (NOTE: No Abstract or Appendix page is required; No subheadings required)

4. On the paragraph page (writing page): Your Personal Response essay will be on chapter one in the book True North by Bill George. Write a summary/background of Bill George (5-6 sentences): his education, work experience, achievements, and philosophy of leadership. You must include at least 2 APA citation references in the paragraph (at least two paraphrased quotes – one from the book and one from another source). I have uploaded the pdf of chapter four for you to use; please use this edition (2015). You will also need to do additional research online from other sources.

5. In your template, Set up your References page. Include 2 references. Make sure to list the sources in alphabetical order. Do not forget to be extremely careful with names (use family names for author entries, not given names), spelling, and punctuation (e.g. correct use of periods, commas, and italics). Don’t forget to correctly cross-reference your citations and references.

6. Upload your template to the Turnitin APA Template drop box on the assigned date. The template will be graded for correct APA formatting, citations, and referencing.
