This is the body of the paper. The body of the paper should be left-aligned. Each paragraph should be indented using the TAB key. You should use 1” margins all around (under Page Layout). Your paper should be double-spaced (under Home, Paragraph). Also, verify that the Spacing Before and Spacing After are set to 0 pt.

The header is already created for you. If you need to edit a header, double-click in the header area to open the header. Make any changes needed and then click on the Close Header and Footer button.

Paragraph marks are showing on this document because the Show/Hide button is turned on (under Home). These marks show spaces and paragraph marks and are helpful to see exactly what formatting has been used. These marks will not print on a document; they appear only when the Show/Hide button is turned on. To turn it off, click on the button and it toggles off.

Save this sample paper as a guide for your upcoming assignments. To reuse this paper, click on FILE, SAVE AS, and save this document with a different name. To reuse, open this document each time you need to create a paper, and select FILE, SAVE AS and save with a different name. This retains this paper as is and allows you to reuse as needed.

Remember to use Spellcheck and review your paper carefully to find any errors that Spellcheck does not. Spellcheck will not flag a word that is spelled correctly if it is used incorrectly (for example, their / there). After using Spellcheck, remember to read your paper again.

Review APA document formatting in the Franklin Style Manual (available online at writing.franklin.edu).

References

References always go on a separate page. Remember to use hanging indentation for your list of references used to cite any sources you use for your paper. This means that the first line of the reference is left aligned and subsequent lines are indented one half inch.

NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO CITE SOURCES FOR EVERY PAPER ASSIGNMENT. READ THE ACTION ITEMS FOR EACH ASSIGNMENT CAREFULLY.
