APA STYLE C I T A T I O N S
Scholarly Article from a Database
Basic format:
Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Publication Year). Title of article: Subtitle also capitalized. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), page range.
List authors by their last name, followed by their first initials.
Example one:
Öztürk, C., Sari, H. Y., Bektas, M., & Elcigil, A. (2011). Health screening: A survey of children's growth and development in Turkey. Paediatric Nursing, 23(1), 24-28. http://0-search.ebscohost.com.library.ecok.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=58796707&site=eds-live&profile=eds-psych
Capitalize only the first word of the article title (and subtitle, if there is one).
If no DOI is available, use the permalink instead. This can be found on the right side of EBSCO databases.
More than one author: separate each name with a comma and put an ampersand before the final author.
More than twenty authors: put an ellipsis after the 19th author, then list the final author.
Example two:
Kiuru, N., Aunola, K., Lerkkanen, M., Pakarinen, E., Poskiparta, E., Ahonen, T., … Nurmi, J., (2015). Positive teacher and peer relations combine to predict primary school students’ academic skill development. Developmental Psychology, 51(4), 434–446. https://doi.org/10.1037/a0038911
· Cite articles from databases just like print articles.
· When a DOI (digital object identifier) is available, add it to the end of the citation.
· When there is no DOI, put the permalink of the article.
· You don’t have to include the name of the database unless your professor wants you to.
When a DOI is available, put it at the very end of the citation.
Capitalize the journal title as it appears in the source.
