Using specific examples from chapter 3 describe the conditions that necessitate the practice and the resulting relationships that are forged between the actors involved. What social implications (benefits/ negative) are associated with this form of exchange?

b) According to Charles Piot, Kabre have been victims of both the slave trade and German / French Colonialisms but surprisingly have an ambivalent take on the impact of the latter on their society. Why is that so? Also, identify three specific ways in which Kabre settlement patterns and post-colonial identity in Togo have been shaped by their experiences of colonialism
c) Explain how the Kabre Diaspora as described by Charles Piot came to exist in Southern Togo. What are the various ways in which members of this community maintain regular ties with their home region? Why is the maintenance of such ties important to the diasporic Kabre?
