Why do you think it is important for an employer to understand an applicants (both internal and external) reaction to the selection process?

Response 2 classmates’ post

1. I believe it is important for an employer to understand both internal and external applicants in the selection process. I believe they both hold its own importance in the company organizations. Starting off with the internal reaction is targeted at just that the internal employees and hiring from within. As SHRM states " They ask managers to nominate high performing individuals for promotions". This is great to hire from within because it shows the employees that they see potential from within and want you to grow within the company. Moving on to the External reaction and Shrm states "organizations should first determine whether the ideal candidates are passive or active job seekers. Those who are unemployed or unhappy in their current employment are generally active job seekers, and those who are satisfied and successfully working at another place of business are generally passive job seekers". So I believe that it is very important for an employer to understand the two reactions because this can make or break their organization. Hiring from within or looking for new employees can help flourish the company to new levels.

2. I think it is important for an employer to understand both an applicants internal and external reaction to the selection process but not let it affect the way the process goes because there is many times that the hiring managers end up becoming really subjective in the process and let potential candidates get away with things that they normally wouldn't let others get away with. It is extremely important that the hiring managers stick to their actual objectives and guidelines. For the most part, applicants are very interested in learning more about the job as well as to see the flexibility of the job with their schedules.
