Leader Characteristic
Description and Example of Characteristic
Strategic vision Effective innovative leaders have the ability to describe the vision in the future vividly, (Zenger & Folkman, 2014). The C.E.O at the company paints a clear picture of the future as he encourages the team to work collaboratively to achieve the goals of the organization.
Ability to build trust among the teams The ability to build trust among the employees means that they are provided with the opportunity to bring their creative ideas and opinions on the table. The C.E.O understands that the executives and employees have brilliant innovative ideas that need to be shared so as to improve productivity and encourage innovation at all levels of the firm.
Initiates collaborative relationships Collaboration is the ability to work together as a team to achieve the goals and objectives of the firm. The employees knew that the leader would not throw them under the bus even when things went wrong.
PART 2:
Associating: This is the ability to draw connections between problems and the ideas that are derived from complex fields. In future, I would like to be in a position where I can draw connections and conclusions based on the knowledge provided so as to enhance innovation among the teams I will work with. Being able to connect concepts and issues from other fields provides rich information on the company in various ways.
Questioning: Innovators have a passion of inquiry. I would like to take the opportunity to become a leader who has the passion to ask questions which challenge the ordinary circumstances or solutions. The questions that innovators pose tend to prove new insights, connections, possibilities and directions. The questions also provide an outlook in project teams so as to drive creativity and innovation.
