Christakis, D. A., & Feudtner, C. (1993). Ethics in a short white coat: the ethical dilemmas that medical students confront. Academic Medicine68(4), 249-54.

Christakis and Feudtner. (1993) investigated the ethical dilemmas that medical students face as they enter the clinical wards. The authors wanted to know the medical dilemmas to come up with effective recommendations to mitigate ethical dilemmas. The study uses the students' cases from 1991 to 1992 during the innovative and ethics class given as part of an internal medicine clerkship in a tertiary hospital. The study targets the medical students as it aims to provide the mitigation strategies to the ethical dilemmas they face. Some of the reasons that lead to the ethical dilemmas that the students face include the methods used when dealing with disagreements, differing degrees of knowledge, the medical students’ experience, and the team members’ ignorance.

The authors use primary data, thus increasing the statistical power of the study. The evidence used in the study was used effectively to identify the reasons that the medical students identified resulted in ethical dilemmas in their practice. To achieve the study's objective, the authors expressed their points adequately, and they gave an honest opinion on the measures that can be utilized to curb the ethical dilemmas faced by the medical students. The study can be used as part of the evidence in future studies as the pints were well presented, and it has high statistical power. There is no perspective to the approach of the issue that the author missed.
