Topic 2: Police Use/Misuse of Deadly Force

The authors examine the historical records of behaviors of the police especially in Chicago (1890-1925) and reforms that have been put in place by the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, the evolving strategy of policing, the use and misuse of history in recent police patrol analysis, popular conceptions about the nature of police work, and police use of force. The relationship between the police officers and members of the public have close examined in the article (Brandl & Barlow, 1996).
