Annotated Bibliography Assignment

Annotated Bibliography Assignment

Annotated bibliographies provide brief overviews or summaries of sources related to a specific topic. Often they are compiled in order to demonstrate what sources are available on a topic a scholar is considering studying.

For this assignment, you will find, read, and create annotations for the five designated sources related to your approved research essay topic. (One book/ebook, one website, one peer reviewed journal/magazine/newspaper article, one live source, and one source of your choice. All topics must be approved.

Guidelines and Criteria for Evaluation:

Your annotated bibliography should follow these guidelines:

I. Include a brief, one to two paragraph introduction of your topic. This introduction in some ways acts as a summary of the topic and the questions that you have identified, but its primary purpose is to introduce the sources you have annotated and to explain how they relate to each other.

II. After the introduction, the bibliography includes annotations for each of the five designated sources that you plan to use in your research essay.

II. Please remember that NO WIKIPEDIA or related sources are allowed.

II. Provide bibliographic information for each source in MLA format.

II. Summarize each source in a one-paragraph annotation. These annotations should provide brief overviews of the sources. What are the key points addressed in the source? How do you plan to use the source in your paper?

Please refer to chapter two (pages 59-61) in the textbook for more helpful information regarding the annotated bibliography.
