Kirkorian, Heather L., et al. “The Impact of Background Television on Parent: Child Interaction.” Child Development, vol. 80, no. 5, 2009, pp. 1350–1359.This is a journal article from “Child Development” that covers the results from parents and very young children. The author points out television can cause the quantity and quality of parent-child interaction declined. “This study confirmed the hypothesis that background television interferes with parent-child interactions, disrupting social input and parent engagement as the parent’s attention is occupied by the television” (Kirkorian et al.1358). Research confirms the hypothesis that when parents' attention is occupied by television, it interferes social input and parent engagement. This article is relevant to my argument in my research paper because it proves me an evidence of excessive addiction can affect the audience.
