Annotated Bibliography Instructions

Research 5 or more sources about your topic. For the annotated bibliography you are just identifying 5 sources you found, but they do not have to be ones you will ultimately use in your paper.

Cite each source using either MLA or APA style (whichever you prefer)

Write a short summary of the source

Write a short explanation of how it will either be useful for your paper or why it will not be.

Examples:

Susannah Sanford McDaniel and Marisa Thomas, “Johnson, Eliza Eubanks

Peterson,” Handbook of Texas Online, accessed April 01, 2021, https://

www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/johnson-eliza-eubanks-peterson.

Eliza Peterson founded the African American branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in Texas. She recruited countless members throughout her time as head of the union and worked closely with the main branch. Through her travels and speeches, Peterson spread awareness of the temperance cause.

This article is helpful in establishing the foundations of the Thurman Branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and will provide solid information for my paper.

“Woman’s Christian Temperance Union,” A&E Publishers, accessed March 28,

20201, https://www.history.com/topics/womens-history/womans-christian-temperance-union.

This article is about Frances Willard and the creation of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. It includes information about not only the WCTU but also the other reform movements of the late 19th century, like prison reforms and woman’s suffrage.

Although the information is relevant, it is not specific enough to really help with my topic on the African American branch of the WCTU, so I will not be using it for my paper.
