Abstract

This bibliography is made up on multiple, diverse, sources, and will provide different perspectives based on their research, experience, and education. The definition of vision varies between sources, but a mutual understanding between sources, is that it is based on values. The literature review that will follow this bibliography will explore the purpose and impact of visionary leadership and discuss the effects on individuals and organizations of many different levels.

This article focuses on how individuals can succeed in an organization focused on individual proactive measures. Th article goes to discuss the effects humility and searching for feedback can have on the success within an organization. It provides helpful information and builds credibility of how having a strong vision can positively effect an organization.

This article goes into deep though into the purpose and the impact of visionary leadership has within an organization. The content of this article is relative to the topic of Visionary Leadership and offers a narrow focus on why vision is important, the impact of involving followers in development and adherence to the vision, and how to balance leader-centered vision development with followershared vision acceptance. This research will support the definition and application of visionary leadership while providing insight on impact throughout the organization.

This article analyzes employee awareness and the understanding of HR policies and how it effects the changes of outcomes to employees. This article isn’t necessarily valuable to this literature review but does offer the importance of effectively communicating a vision throughout an entire organization.

This article focused on the impact and importance of vision, mission, and goal statements within the community of higher learning. This article offers an intriguing perspective and appreciation for the power of cohesion born from nurturing a strong vision in an arena outside of business world. Gurley offers very well supported descriptions of vision and explanations of what characteristics makes them effective.

This article has an in-depth comparison of vision application and validity between large and small business is offered with an emphasis on retail pharmacies in Australia. The impact tends to be greater in smaller organizations where there is more direct contact with leadership and staff. This type of influence and how it effects the productivity and long-term success is discussed throughout the article.

This article explores the impact of visionary leadership on followers which includes commitment, trust, and satisfaction in great detail. This article will prove to be very helpful when in reference of supporting my organizational impacts resulting from visionary leadership.

This article concentrates on the communication aspect of vision sharing and implementation with mention of effect of vision on an organization. The theory of Motivational Language is defined and its connection to vision sharing/implementation is fully explored. The article proves helpful to providing support for the why and how of effectively communicating vision throughout an organization.

This article, Murphy identifies three key components of vision: mission, goals, and expectations. Each component is explored with principles and discuss in the article of how each support the leader’s vision. This article has very little context when it comes to vision, but the information is usable as it covers a wide span of vision concepts. This article can be use universally among organizations.

This article focuses on value congruence and what type of influence is has on employees aligning with the values and the subsequent vision of an organization and the leader. Value congruence, according to this article, “refers to the perceived similarity between values held by individuals and those of organizations.” Where this article focuses primarily on leaders and supervisors working in the public eye, however, value congruence is a universal theory and can apply to any organization.

This article discusses not only the positive effects of vision, but also negative effects of vision within an organization. Most articles only like to cover the positive side, but this article is refreshing and captures both angels. The highlighted impact on having a younger workforce will be helpful with my literature review.
