❑ 1 of the additional required sources on your topic
❑ Arrange in alphabetic order by lead author’s last name (check that you know which is first and last)
❑ Use the MLA style guide to correctly format in-text citations and annotated bibliography ❑ Do not number the sources in your annotated bibliography
❑ Review plagiarism guidelines – all instances of copying without proper citations will result in an F on the final assignment ❑ Review when and how to use quotation marks correctly and how to provide in-text citations
❑ Check that your annotations (summaries) are complete ❑ Review how to write an annotation and what to include
❑ How do the articles relate to your topic; how do they relate to each other
❑ Review and revise often for clarity – get help with writing skills if needed
Research Assessment Read instructions carefully
❑ A short 2-3 page (800-1000 words) assessment of the research that you have undertaken for this assignment that: (a) highlights the main points of your research, (b) demonstrates your ability to critically assess the research and (c) presents your research in a straightforward and compelling manner
❑ Must have a clear thesis statement – what position are you taking or argument are you making? ❑ What have you concluded through your research? Do you agree with the research question posed for your topic?
❑ Include your own critical thoughts ❑ Here is where you will draw on knowledge gained throughout the course – demonstrating this knowledge (what you learned) will get
better results
❑ Use support / evidence (but not too much – about 10% [approx. 100 words total from quotes/paraphrasing) to support your ideas
❑ Do not try to write a conclusion about what you “think [the instructor] wants”
❑ No obvious statements (e.g. prostitutes should be treated like everyone else)
❑ Review and revise for clarity and that all citations are accurate
❑ Any plagiarism will receive an automatic F on the assignment
