Annotated Bibliography
PURPOSE: The purpose of this assignment is to prepare the student for the main Written Assignment in the course where the student will need to be familiar with APA format and proper references. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the source, and to state how this source will be used in future writing. The use of scholarly articles is required for all written assignments that will have incorporate outside sources. The student will also use in-text citations as they would in any written assignment to reference the information.
The following is a list of topics that you can choose to research or find scholarly sources.

SUMMARY: For this assignment, you will create an annotated bibliography of FIVE sources. This means that you will find a credible sources and write a brief (50 words) summary on the article. There are a number of ways that you can find sources. Examples are shown below:
Example Source and Annotation in APA format: Scholarly Journal Article (found online)
Author, A. (Year Published). Article title. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), page range. http://doi.org/xx.xxx.xxxx
When listing the DOI, create a hyperlink with http:// or https://
In your annotation, summarize the main points of the source in about 50 words (3-4 sentences). Explain how this particular source will help you and how it relates to the topics on the list given. Be sure to summarize the main points IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Do NOT copy and paste information directly from the source. This constitutes plagiarism and you will not receive credit for the assignment. Also, you will not be able to resubmit the work for a grade.

SOURCES: Student can find credible sources by using the library or Google Scholar. To use the library, the student must go to the TNCC Library and click “Find Articles”. The search will display as shown below, but YOU MUST CHECK the box to ensure scholarly articles that are credible are shown in your search results.
You will find information below on how to determine if a source is credible. Please review this prior to completing the assignment. The information will be valuable to completing the work.

FINAL TIPS
Tip 1: Note that references are listed in alphabetical order.
Tip 2: APA does not require URLs when referencing online journal articles. Instead, find the DOI and cite as a hyperlink (ex: http://doi.org/xx.xx.xxxx). Always cite the DOI for online journal articles when available.
Tip 3: Be sure to review the resources given on how to distinguish between a credible source and one that is not considered credible.
