Annotated Bibliography (50 points)

An annotated bibliography is simply a list of potential sources that you might be using if you were writing a research paper. It should include journal articles, books, Internet sites, etc. – NOT movies, youtube videos, etc. – they are to be put into MLA format (alphabetically, and a brief annotation of the source should follow. Your annotations should be about 4-7 sentences and should include a summary of the author(s) main points as discussed within the source along with your personal commentary on the usefulness of the source.

NOTE: Some of the sources in your annotated bibliography may not be useful, and it’s okay to say that in your annotation. However, you must have proof that you’ve consulted at least 8 critical sources in your bibliography.

Specifications: Once you’ve decided on your short stories, you’ve got to start researching your topic. You may look in online databases (supported by the library – Gale Group), journals found in the library, books (just chapters – not required to read the whole thing), and you may have ONE Internet citation.

You must follow MLA format throughout the bibliography. This includes headings, margins, pages #s, etc. The following will give you some of the specifications that I’m looking for. Everything else can be obtained from an MLA book.

· Double-space EVERYTHING – this includes the heading.

· You must have a heading in the following order on the left-hand side:

· Your name

· My name

· English 202 – section #

· Date

· You must have the page #s in the upper right-hand corner – the MLA format for this is your last name - space - the page # For example: Flowers 1

· You must have one inch margins all around – top, bottom, left, right

· If your citation runs longer than one line (and most will), everything after the first line is to be indented 5 spaces. Your annotation (your summary and personal commentary) should be about 4-7 sentences total and begins at the left hand side (the 1st line of annotation is NOT indented).

· Title your work simply “Annotated Bibliography” – minus the quotation marks

· DUE DATE:

**If you have questions about your bibliography, I will be happy to help. However, please do not come to me without first consulting an MLA book. Everything you need is in there somewhere.

THE REASON?

This is the first step to your research paper. You will use this information to write your research paper. For that paper, you will use at least 4 sources found in your annotated bibliography.
