Each entry will contain the following:
A complete, correct citation for the work, including inclusive page ranges for journal
articles. Document sources in the style for your field (MLA, APA, Chicago, CBE, etc.).
An annotation of a paragraph or two in length
Annotations should do all of the following, in a standard order you develop and keep consistent:
Briefly summarize the text and its purpose, including the thesis and main argument.
Briefly mention its author's credentials (Google is your friend). If you can’t find
anything, let me know how you looked.
Identify the text’s intended audience. Scholarly or general? What knowledge and
background is needed to read this?
Analyze the text in terms of general quality; mention/analyze any supplements (charts,
illustrations, appendices, etc.); critique the author’s argument if necessary.
Judge the text in regards to its usability
for your project
; if it doesn’t appear to be as
useful as you’d hoped, say so.
There is no minimum or maximum word count for this assignment, but a complete annotated
bibliography with 5 sources is expected to be more than two pages in length. Double-space the
entire paper, use a Times New Roman 12 point font, and one-inch page margins. In MLA, entries
should be in alphabetical order, organized by the last name of your source. Leave an extra line
space in between each annotation. Be sure to include your last name and the page number in the
upper right-hand corner of each page after the
annotated bibliography . these need to be cited as well
