Sport Outreach Plan – Consideration of Peer Review
While working on my Sport Outreach Plan, I got useful feedback from my peers and the
course teacher on several aspects of the project which I agreed to consider and address in my
revisions. This feedback helped carry out the Distillation of the Mission Statement and Vision
Statement, Target Population, Program Activities, and Evangelism and Discipleship part of the
plan.
Feedback Summary and Reaction
1. Mission and Vision Feedback: Most of the responses I got regarding the mission and
vision part of my Sports Outreach Plan were positive, especially for the recognition of the health
aspect of the youths involved, both physically and mentally. These aspects were considered
important in creating an overall positive change in the young people's lives. Nevertheless, it was
suggested that the goals be widened and that more specific short-term aims be included,
connected with the personal and educational perspectives of the participants. This would enhance
the effectiveness of the program in that other sector in the development of the youth, including
education and other forms of health, would also be attended to as and when needed. Finally, I
was instructed to include measures of performance to enable the right assessment of the program
for performance as a tool for measuring the success of the program in the achievement of the
objectives set for the program. This was particularly helpful because it brought my attention back
to remembering unique goals and managerial things that have to be done, as well as how one
might evaluate the outcomes of the program at some point in time. With the above elements,
particularly the focused goals together with the clear evaluation metric, the program will be in a
position to maintain its core value of enhancing the general well-being of the youths. Not only
3
will it enhance their sports-related skills but also in other sectors and successes of their lives,
thus making the outreach services for youths much more balanced.
2. Target Population Feedback: Concerning the feedback given, the enhancement
required was observed to be oriented toward the youths, for example, some areas like Chinatown
or other similar areas that appeared to be less privileged. My recommendations pointed towards
devoting time towards identifying the employment agency services and extracurricular activities
that are in place, as well as other support services that can easily delve into this specific group of
young people with more energy. Such feedback is more useful in a way that made me consider
aspects within the community that I did not know existed. This made me realize how much I lack
insight into the problems and situations that surround these youths so I can come up with the
right program that is likely to suit the youths' needs. They may have different social, economic,
or educational constraints that, if one takes his/her time to identify, then one can try to look for
ways of solving them. Including several bases, like connecting participants to local employment
training or educational services, will provide the targeted approach and applicability to the
obtained results for my outreach plan, not only the interest in sports but also perspectives for
further active and useful life.
3. Program Activities Feedback: There were positive suggestions, and people at work
have proposed that there should be a mentorship part where the older participants or local
administrators mentor the younger ones. This has the backing of the New Testament provision
on direct supervision, and they corrected it since it could prove useful in enhancing interpersonal
relationships instead of mimicking the role models of the course instructor on various aspects of
the project, which I have carefully reflected upon and integrated into my revisions. This feedback
4
was crucial in refining the mission and vision, target population, program activities, and
evangelism and discipleship components of the plan.
4. Evangelism and Discipleship Feedback: The evaluation of the evangelism and
discipleship part pointed to a lack of specific approaches to the development of spirituality
within the existing program. Therefore, it was proposed that objectives for evangelism be
assigned, such as the number of Bible studies and discipleship events. I also got ideas telling me
that it is relevant to congratulate the participants and conduct a retrospective meeting, as well as
to assess the effectiveness of the program. This feedback made it clear that the evangelism
process should be done in an orderly manner, not only in terms of how the participants expand
physically but also spiritually.
Implementation of Feedback in the Comprehensive Plan
To this extent, given the feedback received on the mission and vision statements, I will
first rewrite the statements accompanied by specific goals for the academic and personal
enrollments. I will also incorporate activity measures that will determine the extent to which the
program improves not only the physical strength of the participant but also the academic brain.
This will help suggest changes like recruitment and provide direction towards achieving
progression. Besides the target group, I will also conduct another study with the unwanted
children in Chicago regarding their needs for the activities and resources that relate to outreach
about a facet of sports. It will help me to identify those areas where one can obtain the
information needed to enhance the chances of applying for the program in some of the
communities.
5
As far as program activities are concerned, it will be necessary to introduce a model
where older participants are paired with younger ones. In that respect, it will help provide
direction and optimize stewardship in the community, too. I will also hold a monthly session
where the participants and the families will offer feedback on how the program should be run to
meet their full needs. Last, in the evangelism and discipleship block, I will define the objectives
for spiritual growth to happen, for instance, the number of bible studies and the discipleship
programs. Further research is the assessment of the levels of spirituality within the IFSSP, the
ways it has been practised, and whether there have been any alterations made to the current
IFSSP spirituality components. Thus, through such changes, the Sports Outreach Plan will have
the possibility of changing the youths not only in the physical and the spiritual but in other areas
such as in school, in other activities, in other aspects of life, and in general, giving the
community a better hope.
