How can the gaps in college readiness between students from low-income and underserved
communities and those from wealthy and majority groups be eliminated?
Purpose Statement
The purpose of the study will be to provide recommendations for solving Equity Gaps at
James Monroe High School, Virginia.
Problem Statement
The problem was that only 28% of the students from low-income and underserved
communities at James Monroe High School were ready for college compared to the state average
of 84% for all students.
