BUSINESS PROPOSAL 2

Executive Summary

The Temple University should introduce a to set up electric car charging station programs to make it easier for students to access the car power rather than moving out of the university. It will lower the time used to go for the charge outside, and instead, they use that time to do other constructive things. Most Universities have faced the problem of students and instructors moving out of the university to seek a place to charge their cars. When they access the service quickly in the university, they fix possible problems that might have occurred in moving out. If Temple University focuses on developing and implementing an electric car charging station, it will stand able to support environmental conservation positively and benefits users in several ways. By accepting the implementation of setting electric car charging stations the university will resolve the problem of students and lectures using a lot of time going out to recharge their vehicles and improve environmental conservation (Energy, n.d.).

The electric car charging station can be implemented to operate within nine months. The program will require a budget of about $4,250 for initial start-up costs in providing installation tools, required materials, and labour cost (Ference, 2017). However, in other cases, the installation processes might cost higher than this if the charging point will need major electrical upgrades. The university can fund the proposal to be refunded after the trial period. If Temple University does not implement this program, it risks the chance of students and instructors wasting a lot of time, money to go and purchase the charges outside the university as well as increasing the risk of air pollution from cars which use diesel. It is essential for the University to understand the primary benefits of implementing this proposal as it can solve problems within the college and build a competitive environment.

Problem New trends in business across the United States and other countries are being implemented

daily to push towards business competitions on different products. The phenomena concerning car fueling products evolution from the traditional diesel and petrol stations have developed to new products such as the electric car charging stations which have more benefit to the owners as well as the general environment (Holland, 2016). In Temple University there is higher congestion for students and instructors driving out of the school to go and charge their cars outside the University. It could be beneficial to the university as well as the if the University extends its investments and come up with the electric car charging station which will accommodate all the students and instructors, thus improving its profit incomes.

Across the University, most people use electric vehicles (EVs); therefore, through the implementation of this program, they will experience lots of fun associated with their excellent functionality. The electric car charging station will make it easy for electric vehicles to recharge efficiently and without waiting for long lines like it is outside the University. By their implementation, students and instructors will be able to avoid problems of having few focal points which are not accessible in the University. These vehicles fuel consumption is frequently associative than other conventional cars. The recharging of electric vehicles has excellent torque and higher responsiveness because they have rapidly responded (Holland, 2016). With the university having numerous EV in the college, it opens a chance to implement the charging stations as it gives them a choice to control charging at home, at the school, or out and about. Students and other staff members can leave their vehicles to charge during class time, which will make it

BUSINESS PROPOSAL 3

convenient for those who have to drive in places where they cannot access the charging stations. If they charge them frequently, they avoid the chances of going to a service station again!

A 21st century EV is more than 80% efficient at turning energy into a force that moves the car. A 20th-century gas car is about 80% efficient at being a furnace (Rajakaruna, 2014). If the primary purpose of a vehicle is to produce heat, then gas is the way to go. If the primary goal is to move the car, the EV is the way to go. Implementing the station is an advantage to the students because the fuel for an EV is about 1/4th the cost of gasoline and nowhere near as volatile. The prices of oil products are affected by natural catastrophes such as a hurricane, but the amounts of electricity stay the same. Proposal to set an electric car charging station in Temple University

The Temple University should implement the electric car charging station in the production for a more honest evaluation of customer’s feedback and outcomes. This program will aim at establishing an electric car charging station which helps the students and school staff to save their time, money and manage their vehicles effectively.

From a survey I conducted, I enquired several students and staff members if they felt interested in the university setting an electric car charging station in Temple University. Most responded positively by claiming the program will allow the most student to enjoy fast services, save money and time as well. The survey results also indicated the program would benefit not only the customers but also the University as well. They all agreed to participate and promised to support the trial for nine months.

Therefore, I propose Temple University to implement this program for nine months as a trial. The electric car charging program should have level 1 and 2 standards so that services offered could be much yielding. The commonality of charging standards is significant for car owners. By installing a level electric charging station, customers will have not to worry about the charging plug. The gasoline-powered brethren can use any gasoline pump with the caveat that the diesel and gasoline nozzles are different because those fuels are incompatible. Although electricity is electricity, electric car owners should focus on using this station because it is part of their assets. I propose the station to have “AC Level 1 (120 volts up to 20 amps) and AC Level 2 (240 volts up to 80 amps) because the station will have typical charging methods to accommodate all cars” (Guinn, 2018). However, the most typical implementation will need a 6+ kilo Watt charging station that gives about 25 miles range per hour of charging. These use the J1772 protocol, and there are two varieties of connectors the European and non-European connector, (Zou, 2015).

If Temple University sees a positive change after the trial period with improved sales and profit margin, then it should expand the investment to keep the program forever. The new changes will be tracked using the profit and loss sheets and balance sheets. The organization will then maintain an ongoing evaluation to examine all consumer feedbacks, ideas, and opinions for improved product development. Implementation Plan

The implementation of the programs should be for the organization’s business year 2019- 2020 as a trial period. In case after that period, it proves to have a positive outcome; then the organization can move on and keep the program working for the next year. Before implementation of the program, it is necessary to adjust organizations basic requirements of setting a standard electric charging car station. For easier cope in the program I suggest the following timeline; Between June  Recruiting eight suitable candidates  Drafting a constitution to guide the group

BUSINESS PROPOSAL 4

 Hiring a potential professional advisor  Train the candidates

July – August  Create any necessary changes  Announce the plan officially  Begin the first phase of installing the electric car charging station  At the end of this assessment and evaluate if the program is ready to work

September – January  Start selling services to customers  Evaluate results  Close the application and decide whether to implement it officially in the organization or

not as per the results. Budget/Initial costs

For full funding of this proposal, an estimation of $4,250 can be used as the initial budget for the first-period cost. Due to the influences of changes in technology and economy, the price seems reasonable to be easily included in the budget for maximum performance. The cost breakdown is as follows;

 Level 1 charger – $400 to $600  Labour and other parts cost – $1000 to $1500  Level 2 station - $500 to $700  Other parts and Labor cost – $1200 to $1800

Benefits Setting the electric car charging station in Temple University will promote the economic

growth of the university. It will also increase the chances of attracting and retaining students and instructors because they are sure they will access all driving service they need for their electric vehicles (profitableventure.com, n.d.). To students and other staff members, they will enjoy opportunities of accessing fast services, affordable, and quality services within their institution. They will also have the advantages of saving much of their time to students because they can leave their cars charging during class times. Conclusion and Recommendations

The Temple University should set the electric car charging station in the university as a service to enable students, and administrators to save much of their money and time. Today the technology in vehicles has changed, and companies are coming up with a car which has a positive impact on the environment. Through the installation of the electric car charging station in the university, it will be thus supporting the current technology to avoid air pollution within. Through the use of electric car charging stations, the University will be able to address business opportunities, which might be available in the college. The program will solve the possible problems which might occur due to lack of enough facilities to service the electric cars. The total cost of purchasing, installing and running the trial at the University is about $4250 within nine months.

Focusing to invest in innovation models, partner management, and product management are vital roles which the University can implement to sustain the program. For instance, if the university chooses to adopt the electric car charging station, then it will be essential to understand these roles because technology might be hard to make them shift from one process to another. Starting the new electric car charging station will expand the university’s income sources. It is thus essential to make sure the project sales, profits, and customer loyalty, are managed wisely.
