Annotated Illustation/Targeted Audience
How social media has helped teens with job opportunities.
What's one thing all teens have in common? They all want to be able to earn money to get things they’ve always wanted. The easiest but luckiest way a teen can do that is by building an audience on social media which can sometimes pay more than the average 9-5 job. It was rather typical for young people to have completely different aspirations for their professions before social media firmly established its presence in our daily lives. Children aspired to work as physicians, firefighters, dancers, models, and a variety of other "normal" professions when they grew up. Aspirations for a career change with the times. Social Media has helped students get jobs on platforms such as Twitch, TikTok, and YouTube.
Youtube can be a stable job that pays teens who have built an audience $60,000 yearly. YouTube
is strictly built off entertainment, so at times, it can be a stressful job because what pleases one person isn't going to please the next, which results in a lot of backlashes. Youtube has gone from kids making videos in the bedrooms to buying expensive cameras and filing the craziest topics. By sharing films of themselves engaging in their passions, many people decide to become makers. It seems natural to demonstrate your gaming skills to others if you enjoy it. The same is true for creating soap, painting, or any other craft, and for broadcasting videos of your next sewing endeavor. You have creative control over your content as a YouTuber. A teen can choose its own working hours and whether to rent an office or work from home. You choose whether to work with a management company, whether to hire assistance, and whether to handle everything on your own.
A successful Tik Tok star can earn up to $50,000-$150,000 yearly with a brand. On TikTok you can make content on anything. You can dance, make skits, promote music, tell jokes, the sky is really the limit for the app. Charli Demilio is making 17.5 million annually and once you create a fanbase on any one of the sites, (comma) they tend to follow on every other social media site. Regular people, celebrities,
politicians, companies, sports groups & leagues, and other brands use TikTok as a fun and innovative way to spread messages. Even while TikTok is used by famous people, the platform takes pleasure in giving unknown content creators the same opportunity to get recognized. The firm invited black creators to discuss their worries and experiences with TikTok leaders in June 2020, involving the black community in crucial discussions regarding racism and prejudice. The business also hosted a discussion where TikTok student ambassadors from historically black institutions and universities shared their thoughts (HBCUs).
A Twitch streamer can make from $50-$1500 monthly. For a new streamer, that’s decent. A twitch streamer can stream games, talking to the camera, sports games & etc. You get paid off of followers and subscribers; , to subscribe the total comes out to be 5.99 monthly. It can be quite challenging to succeed as a streamer. Many streamers continue to stream for years on end with little to no improvement. However, it can be a terrific job for the select few who succeed in breaking through and creating a community that supports them. Streaming is worthwhile if you like to entertain and communicate with others. Every day, more and more people are making a full-time living out of their passion for streaming. Not to mention that you will be putting effort into a hobby. But to succeed in a career like this you must be able to spend money to make money for all three of my discussions. Cameras cost a lot; mics also aren't cheap either.
A teenager has a lot of opportunities to make money nowadays because of social media. Social Media has impacted our youth big time. Teens don't have to work a labor job to get money with social media apps like Youtube, TikTok, and twitch existing. You can also sell things on Facebook to make quick cash because you know what they say, “ one man's trash is another man's treasure”. According to research, the typical person uses social media for about two hours every day (in-text citation). You may have even
heard of the well-known YouTube and TikTok mansions, where content creators live in a mansion together and spend their days producing material that earns them a ton of cash. Collaborations are a big part of social media, because when you bring different audiences together the views and subscriber counts skyrocket.
