Being a Student in America Today
The skills and the knowledge that many people have received from attending the different
schools of life have resulted in most of the success people have. Therefore, the key to life has
been linked to education as education has facilitated the opening up of different opportunities to
individuals in which they can secure chances that makes their lives even much better. This .has
led me to have an interest in wanting to know more of the students of America today. During the
study, many students have faced several factors that have had great influences on their studies.
Some of the factors have even motivated the students more in the studies, while other factors
have posed a great negative impact on the students, which has pulled them down on how they get
engaged in their studies. This discussion, therefore, trues to explain out what it takes for any
student to be an American student in the present life and it shows all the challenges that they may
go through as well as the risks that they take in the process of trying to brighten their future lives
(Perna, 94).
The basic thing in the current world that has the highest probability of making a person
successful in life in the current situations in the world is education as the opportunities that
makes one be successful are brought about by the experiences that the persons have had as well
as the skills and the knowledge that they have acquired from education. Perna identified that
education is one of the key and essential tools that can be used by people in the quest to attain
their goals and objectives in life. One of the regions in America that require a high level of
Zhang 2
competency in performing different activities is the American metropolitan area. For one to
acquire a good job in this area requires them to have a high level of skills as well as knowledge
to ensure that they are fit for different jobs. In her book, Perna has clearly stated that for one to
secure a good job, they have to advance their studies to postsecondary education. When one has
acquired a diploma, an undergraduate degree or even a master's degree is exposed to greater
opportunities to having a better life, and as a result, this has highly motivated the diverse
communities in America to work even hard in their studies and go to even postsecondary levels
(Perna, 88).
In America, the students have been given equal chances in their studies regardless of their
family of financial background. The students have been given the opportunity to compete for the
different changes in the studies. They get to compete both in class and on the whole campus at
large. In the recent past, education in America has changed in many ways giving each individual
in the society free access to learning. Since all the learners are given equal chances, those who
work hard in their education have been given the highest priority to have better lives in their
future. The different abilities of the students to initiate different measures that are appropriate in
making proper utilization of the opportunities will lead the students to have a successful life in
their future (Espenshade, 130).
In the present world, technology has highly developed, and it has taken control over most
of the aspects of society, and as a result, society requires people who have different knowledge
concerning technology. This has made the American society have a higher expectation to
students advancing to postsecondary education levels. Due to the different advancements in
technology, college students have been given the highest chances of making their lives better
through working hard. In American society, the resources have turned scarce, and this has made
Zhang 3
the society have a high expectation of the student to bring different forms of innovation to
society in the process of trying to make their lives better. This has made the American students
be under high pressure of fighting to ensure that they have better lives (Espenshade, 127).
The students in America have been given equal chances to study the different courses that
they want to take, provided they meet all the qualifications to do the courses that they want to
pursue. This is because the American nation gives all the individuals equal rights and freedoms.
All the American students are protected by the constitution since it is their right. The challenge
that the students have is that most of the students take loans to finance their studies, and they
have to pay immediately after they complete their studies. This makes most of the students even
drop of school, which eventually makes them not achieve their dreams and goals in life since
they are required to pay the loans even before they are well established in life (Avery, 65).
The American students, once in postsecondary education levels, they get entitled to
acquire loans that will help them pay their tuition fees as well as to cater to their different
personal needs. This has made most of the students in the society to be in debts since they get to
borrow much than what they need to spend. This has even made most of the students have
challenges in paying back the money. The society at large has got to worry about the level of
borrowing among the students as well as their poor spending habits (Avery, 74).
In conclusion, American students undergo different challenges as well as experiencing
different advantages and benefits. The society expects the students to give their best and bring
different innovations in society. The students also expect society to offer them support in their
studies as well as to provide chances for them. Therefore, American students are expected to
work extra hard to be successful in society.
