An Experiment about Reflexes

Over the years, scientists have examined humans’ and animals’ sensory receptors and reflexes. The findings from the previous studies have been helpful in explaining the ability of individuals to sense stimuli and react to them accordingly. This laboratory experiment aims to further this area of study by determining subjects’ ability to sense different stimuli.

Researchers have experimented on the sensory receptors and reflexes exhibited by humans, animals, and some plants. According to Anokhin (2016), reflexes are helpful in explaining behavioral tendencies of people and animals. Notably, people are expected to react to stimuli within a particular range of time. Therefore, any delays in the reaction time provide valuable information regarding the sensory receptors of an individual or animal. My desire to experiment about sensory receptors and reflexes stems from the observable differences between my senses and one of my closest friends. For some time, I have noted that his reflexes are a bit delayed in comparison to mine. In this respect, I intend to establish whether his reflexes are similar to those of some of my classmates. In this manner, I would be able to determine whether my reflexes are too quick or whether his are off the required reaction time range. This experiment will mimic a previous study that aimed to investigate the sensory receptors and reflexes of the subjects by focusing on their somatic sensations, hearing, taste, smell, and reflexes. The findings established from the study were crucial in explaining the differences between the sensory receptors in individuals.

The laboratory experiment will aim to investigate the sensory receptors and reflexes showed by some of my classmates. Understanding the reflexes of an individual is instrumental in explaining their behavior. This experiment is motivated by the differences in reaction time between me and my friend’s.
