Bone remodeling, matrix production and mineralization.

Research component

Skeletal remodeling occurs continuously all through life since it is a metabolically active organ. Osteoclasts remove calcified bone during bone regeneration, and then osteoblasts produce bone matrix, which is then mineralized. Osteoclasts breakdown old bone during disintegration; mononuclear cells emerge on the bone surface during reversal; and osteoblasts lay down new bone until resorbed bone is entirely restored during creation.

Osteoblasts on the bone surface create the bone matrix. Osteoblasts, which release collagen and ground material, lay down the bone's extracellular matrix. Collagen is made within the cell by these enzymes, which ultimately release collagen fibrils into the bloodstream. Bone mineral is composed mostly of globular and plate-like structures (Saladin, 2017). In order to keep bones stiff and inflexible, they need to be mineralized, yet after decades of study, researcher do not know exactly how mineralization happens. You need it to keep your bones healthy and is controlled by both local and systemic causes. If soft tissues such as blood vessels begin to mineralize (or calcify), it may lead to disorders like arterial medial calcification (AMC).

Critical thinking component

Bone remodeling is the process through which the skeletal tissues are regeneration which is essential through out life. This helps in the repair of broken bones, as well as strengthening bones. matrix production and mineralization are also important since they also increase the strength of the bones, preventing osteoporosis. In elderly patients, this process is slowed down in elderly people, hence their weak bones which are easily broken.

There are two forms of mineralization: healthy and pathological, based on whether the bone tissue is hard or soft. Physiological mineralization is necessary for the growth of bone tissue and the performance of everyday human activities. Second, there is pathological mineralization or ectopic mineralization, which occurs when soft bone structures like cartilages and the tissues around cardiac arteries begin to mineralize, resulting in illness and death. if the process is not well regulated, it can lead to abnormalities. therefore, sine this is a homeostatic process, it should be regulated (Saladin, 2017).
