Analysis of the graphic model daybreak

Brian Ralph wrote the graphic novel titled Daybreak. The story is about a zombie apocalyptic and us, the reader, as the3 character striving to save our lives. Daybreak is a unique novel since it is written based in the first person, unlike other novels. The book takes the novel outlook to another new level, the comic. In this paper, I will further analyses the novel.

As expected, with an apocalyptic zombie novel that should be opened roughly, this is not the case with the novel. The novel begins with the young man gently talking to me. My partner’s right arm was cut and had been bandaged. The one-eyed man talked to me in the form of a question. “What is mine is yours, right? Especially in times like this,” he was polite and went further to invite me in. later, he showed me around in the vroom and shared some of the food. We started a conversation to get to know each other more and gather some food to escape the zombie apocalyptic.,(Jon 1479)

The author presented the other man in a way that suggests he was dirty. The fact that his right arm was bandaged showed that he had gone through hardship to save his life. The comic has only four characters; however, Brian Ralph expressed personalities vividly. My partner with a chopped hand is portrayed as brave, skilled, intelligent, and gentle. He knows how to deal with any situation and comes up with solutions quickly; he knows how to fight zombies and is willing to help anyone in need. I am the second character in the comic, and my responsibility is to help the one-armed man. A third character is an older man with a dog who is portrayed as being shy and selfish. The older man is cruel. The first person technique used in the comic creates an exciting way through which the reader is able to enjoy the novel. This is because the reader is an active character and plays an essential role in all scenes through the adventure.

On the other hand, the comic is boring and makes the reader confused. More so, the characters involved are so dull. Imagining that you are one of the main characters in the entire novel is just crazy. At first, it will sound like exciting creativity, but you will be forced to do a lot of nothing in the whole of the comic as you continue reading. When fighting the wars am almost useless with fewer essential roles while my partner has to fight all the battles and find solutions to problems. In my first encounter with the zombies, I played the only position to provide my partner with an axe and then watch him fighting the zombies. “My axe! Get my Axe! In my bag!”, (Ralph). If only I were able to assume a more critical role, I would aid in fighting the zombies and chopping their heads off. The development of the storyline makes a reader stuck. The technique utilized by Raph is but also overwhelming.

The question that I have come up with after I finished reading the whole story is the plot. Throughout the plot, I have come across three people, and from what I have seen, there is no connection between the three. There is even the dog which I did not understand what exactly happened to it. Some of the scenes which I have interacted with they can be said to be comic; however, they do not fulfill the qualities of Zombies or like as if there is someone who is trying to talk with the reader. For instance, a scene was written that although he was shot and fainted, this was just a defense mechanism. The best thing that could have happened here is that he could curse them for firing him. The novel; was somehow hard to be understood by me as I was going through it. This was, for instance, some of the scenes where the man died, and I stood there watching. I was not able to understand which the next move was. This is for instance what I was supposed to take as my next step to ensure that I am maintaining the character which I have already been given as a reader. What is the fascinating issue is that when the reader gets lost, this is where the story ends, (Ralph, 2013).

Conclusion

There are, however, a lot of emotion which daybreak has given me. This is because it is the first time I have interacted with the first’s time comic, written using the first person. However, I have less enjoyed it because many of the times, I have got lost in the plot. As a character in the comic, there was no freedom of choice because everything was already planned for me in advance. The character which the play has given me is different from whom I am as a person. This has made me not love the role which I have been given.
