Homeschooling vs Elementary School
1. Introduction
a) Introduction Statement
· Homeschooling is a progressive movement worldwide where parents educate their children at their homesteads instead of taking them to a private school or traditional school. Families prefer homeschooling for different reasons including educational or religious philosophies. Elementary school is a physical structure set up for students to go for learning. They include public schools and private schools. Some parents prefer them due to variety of reasons including the opportunity for children to interact (Kabiri et.al 2017).
b) Thesis Statement
· Homeschooling and elementary school are two commonly practiced education system with each having pros and cons while their suitability boils down to one’s choice and preference.
1. Main body
i. First supporting idea
· Topic sentence- Home schooling is budget friendly but the children become antisocial, awkward, and sheltered.
· Supporting Sentence- Homeschooling is more budget-effective than elementary school since it only requires a parent or guardian to stay home and teach the children. However, a big concern for the parents about homeschooling is socialization. Homeschooled children lose their social lives and tend to be antisocial, awkward, and sheltered. Homeschooling is important since it enables parents to work from home while educating their children.
ii. Second supporting idea
· Topic Sentence: Elementary school enhances socialization through interaction but it is a bit costly.
· Supporting Sentence- Contrary to homeschooling, elementary schools provide opportunities for socialization. Children are taught in the same class and share other learning facilities (Bourget 2019). However, elementary schools whether public or private requires the payment of a specified fee per student. The amount can be unaffordable for some parents. Elementary schools are important since they provide elective and sports options including art and music to students.
2. Conclusion
When it comes to children education, everyone wants to make the right choice. Every child is unique in learning and their preference might influence the choice of the type of schooling. Most of the parents who are concerned with the quality of their children’s education often decide to homeschool their kids while parents who have strict work schedules prefer elementary schools.
