Each region (North, South, West) of the United States experienced the era of Industrialization (1865–1920) differently, with different issues and groups at the forefront.
Choose one of the following groups in the American Industrial Era (1865-1920):
1. New European immigrants in the east
2. African Americans in the “new south”
3. Asian immigrants in the west
Then, in a full paragraph or two:
· Identify the main challenges facing this group during these industrial years.
· Describe at least one specific example that illustrates such challenge(s) and how the group dealt with it.
· Suggest lessons for our own time, such as positive or effective ways for some group today to deal with society's barriers as well as the inevitable challenges of economic change.

Hello Class!
For this weeks discussion I'm going with choice number two which is African Americans in the "new south". Some of the main challenges this group of people faced during this time was the development of the cotton gin. Alot of the cotton that was being produced had to be sent up to the northern states like Boston, New York Philadelphia etc. Another issue during this time period was the slave based tobacco economy. Because of this new technology innovation it gave new life or a different point of view toward slavery. In better words because of the industrial part of American history thriving it helped get rid of slavery. One of the main challenge that stuck out was the development of the cotton gin. During this time trades were made from the North to the South keeping business going while also promoting black civil rights. Since blacks had more freedom up north most of the buys or trade took place there which eventually gave more jobs to the early Americans. Some lessons today generation could give people from the late 1800s is respecting each other color of skin and the skill that an individual bring to the table. If they had more rights then the work industrial could have thrived better and technology could develop the way it has in today's time.
