Week 3

Question 1: Can a leader who acts ethically in all of his or her actions be a poor or ineffective leader? Why or why not?

Question 2: Are toxic leaders the same as unethical leaders? Support your position.

Week 4

Question 1: Laws contain consequences for when they are broken (e.g. fines, imprisonment) while policies outlines principles of action for an organization. If you design an ethics policy for your organization and include consequences for violation of the policy, does the policy then become a law rather than a policy? Why or why not?

Question 2: Which would be more difficult for you: finding out that the leaders of your organization have acted illegally or finding out that the leaders of your organization have acted unethically. Why?

Week 5

Question 1: As an organizational leader, what actions will you take to monitor your organization’s culture to determine if the culture is aligned to your ethics policy? Why?

Question 2: To foster an ethical organizational culture and to ensure that employees are acting ethically, some organizations monitor the behavior of employees when they are not at work. Is it ethical for an employer to monitor employee behavior when the employees are not at work and being paid? Why or why not?

Week 6

Question 1: Can an organizational leader who acts unethically lead an organization that is ethical? Support your position. How does your worldview inform your position? Explain.

Question 2: Should an employee who acts unethically be terminated from his or her position? Why or why not?

Week 7

Question 1: In the legal system, some crimes are considered more serious than others. For example, murder is classified by degrees with first degree murder considered a more serious crime than second or third degree murder. Should ethics be viewed in the same way with certain unethical decisions being viewed as more serious than others, or are all unethical decisions equal? Explain.

Question 2: Do leaders who make unethical decisions do so consciously? Support your position.

Week 8

Question 1: Look back to your response to Module 1 DQ-1. How has your definition of ethics changed since you provided that response?

Question 2: Visit and become familiar with some of the features located on the DC Network (https://dc.gcu.edu). Using the Search feature, locate the EdD/Ph.D.  Program Dissertation LifeCycle Process Flow and post it as an attachment to your response.  Then discuss how can/will you use the resources available to you on the DC Network during your doctoral journey? What, if any, ethical considerations do you believe are involved in using the DC Network resources? Explain.
