WK 2 ASSIGNMENT MGT517
All case study assignments must have at least 1 peer-reviewed sources (with a doi number) the textbook, and another source of your selection. You can not use news publications, blogs, Wikipedia, Investopedia, ASK.com, dictionaries, anything psychology.,
You will find more information under a different announcement on Citations and References, in week 2 but as we get acquainted, I wanted to provide you some articles that you might want to consider for your work. This is a 30 point element on the grading rubric and I wanted to provide some suggestions to make your life easier, and I will do so for at least the first few weeks. I also see there is a grading rubric posted in the course = I will review it against the one that I use, so in the meantime, mine will take president.
I am struggling to see how I can make the course easier for you, but at the same time, ensure you have the information you need for the final paper. Normally I require certain formatting (see below) to include specific language, formatting, and other elements. I have found that if I do not provide such direction with the case studies (when the assignment instructions show to simply answer questions), student's do not have the information they need to get a wonderful grade for the final assignment. So, let's see how everyone does for the first submission - and maybe we can revisit.
Here is a short example of how the papers should be formatted in this course. Notice the Running head, margins, font/size, Intro element; hint: I will discuss xxx must be included in the intro! Conclusion format (i.e., either the word Conclusion centered and bold or the para beginning with In conclusion, and the placement of first/second level headings.
I would strongly suggest that you download the file and use this as a template for the style. (just delete the instructions and text examples, but using the same headings and sources are encouraged). You can double click on the Running head areas and update the title (but keep everything else the same). You can visually see when and how to construct headings that will guide your reader through your work. You will see what elements are required in terms of format/style that illustrates organization and clarity in the submission. Simply by adopting these strategies, you could earn up to 30 points for your effort! Remember, if an assignment instruction suggests for you to answer questions, know you are always presenting a researched paper! Know that I look for ways students can demonstrate their understanding of the coursework. The best way to do this is to provide evidence of your views and personal examples or experiences.

At the same time as you work through the case studies, you will be delving into an organizational problem for a specific company that you know well. I would strongly suggest selecting a company that you worked for -- researching companies otherwise could become problematic when you do not have first-hand knowledge of problems facing the organization. For instance, if you are proposing a new training platform, you must first present the current structure and then submit your change. Similarly, if you are presenting a change for hiring practices, you must first describe the selection process that is in place.
So, to reiterate, the final project revolves around you diagnosing a process/structure/environment in an organization that you're familiar with and that needs improvement and designing an organizational development (OD) intervention to achieve positive change. Organizations such as your place of employment is the best practice. The course instructions suggest using community groups, volunteer groups, school committees, and even city/state/Federal governments as areas to consider, but again, how well do you know the company? In the recommendations section, you are going to do your best to bring as many of the course concepts as you can to your plan... with a minimum number of three.
