The work by Alina Nhouyvanisvong, it is a well-formulated analysis of hip hop artist named Kendrick Lamar and his dominance in the music industry. The author has made a well-researched study of the music type as well as the themes explored by the artist which makes him an outstanding figure in the society. Beginning with the introduction, the writing is given a clear thesis which guides the readers in understanding the other contents about the artist. First, the introduction is effective in offering the basic information about Kendrick Lamar by stating of his achievements and contributions to the music industry in the nation. Besides, his ability to compose richly contained songs and lyrics ensure that he deserves all the achievements accorded top him. Thus, responding to the question in the self-review letter, it is true that the introduction provides a clear road map of the whole paper and what to expect.
Accordingly, the paper not only uses a descriptive perspective in writing the paper but also goes a step ahead and develops a well-argued argumentative analysis of the contents in the work. In presenting the ideas, the author directly quotes several verses of the songs by Kendrick Lamar which signifies an awareness of the task they are writing about. Furthermore, she proceeds and makes comparisons with other articles relevant to the topic of study in an attempt to effectively develop their arguments. The analysis does not only consider the supporters of Kendrick Lamar’s works but also the critics of the same. For instance, prominent individuals such as Aristotle and Plato would be in support of the works by Kendrick Lamar while others such as Kant would critique it. However, all these arguments are all meant to enhance the smooth transition experienced from one paragraph to the next because of they all inter-relate.
Closely analyzing the work by Alina Nhouyvanisvong, several terms have been emphasized throughout the work. They include philosophical ideas, lyrics, human interests, corruption, human heritage, and emotions. These terms have been emphasized in the work because they carry with them the main themes expressed in most of Kendrick Lamar’s songs. Fighting against the evils in the society has been clearly addressed in all of Kendrick Lamar’s albums and the readers are able to easily identify the main points of arguments across the work. Overall, the outstanding feature of the analysis is the ability to directly quote Kendrick Lamar’s works and incorporate them with the contemporary lives of individuals. With that, I feel that the paper is deservingly well written and integrated all the required aspects of writing through the provided shreds of evidence.
