Alex Rijos VIC3400—Visual Design for Globalized Media Project Assignment 6—Visual Storyboard Narrative Module 11, Assigned Week of 4/5/2021 “A mechanic’s helping hand”

Memorial Day—the unofficial start of summer. John and Linda had been anticipating the time off from work. John is a teacher and Linda is a bank teller. They live in Miami. They had made plans to visit Linda’s mom in Orlando and maybe go to Disney World or Universal Studios during the three-day weekend. On Thursday night, they had packed their bags for a three-day excursion, and as soon as they got off from work on Friday afternoon, they were on the road. It was a trip they had made many times before, but this time it would be different. Sawgrass fires forced I-95 and the Turnpike to shut down for long stretches. They had to get off the main highway and seek alternative routes. With heavier than usual traffic on a holiday weekend, what was normally a four-hour trip extended late into the night. Then the car’s left front tire blew out, and they had to pull over in an unfamiliar town. Both John and Linda’s cell phones were not working...

Both John and Linda exit their vehicle and check the left tire that blew out. Both John and Linda show frustration toward their predicament. John and Linda get into an argument, but soon realize that their argument is futile and is getting them nowhere. They decide to check out the town that their stranded in and look for help. After looking around town for a bit, John and Linda enter a local store and ask the shopkeeper if there was a mechanic nearby. The shopkeeper tells them that there is a mechanic nearby and both John and Linda leave the store to find the mechanic. Both John and Linda find the mechanic that they have been looking for and they tell him about their problem. The mechanic offers to tow and fix John and Linda’s car and they both end up agreeing. After a few hours the mechanic fixes the car which makes John and Linda happy; however, they soon realize that the sun is setting and that they should look for a hotel to stay the night in. John and Linda find a cheap hotel in town and stay the night. In the morning, John and Linda gather their belongings and ride off in their fixed car until they reach Orlando a couple hours later.
