The 500 Nations

Most of the information in the assignment is new because during the previous lessons, there has never been discussion about America before Columbus discovered it and therefore, it means that before this nation was discovered by Columbus, then there was no life in the country. So, the new information is that there were people living in America and some of them were living in urban areas. Those people who were living in America had developed cities and there is likelihood that the first city in the world was in South America. Therefore, the Colombian government claims that he found the United States wrong because people had already lived in the United States before him. The Americans led their lives peacefully since there was no influence from the invaders until when the whites started arriving and influencing their way of life.

A lot of information is omitted in history and thus some percentage is only discussed. Most of the information hidden from the public is sensitive and thus those who writes history reading materials omits the information. The reason why some information is hidden is to create an impression of perfect individuals when talking about people who are historical figures like Columbus. So, when the readers are going through the reading materials, they will learn that the historical figures were perfect. In the case of Columbus, they are depicting him as an individual who did what others have failed to do by traveling across the ocean to get to America where he finally managed to discover the nation. Ignoring the fact that Columbus discovered the man in the United States, he was described as a hardworking and adventurous man.
