The qualitative articles selected to present the PICOT question of obesity increase in children both describe the impact of junk and fast food on children. The main problem behind obesity is fast food consumption as the calories in these kinds of foods increase the lipids and fats levels in the human body, which leads to obesity and abnormal weight gain. Both articles state that obesity can be controlled by implementing significant measures and controlling fast food consumption. The purpose of both articles is to describe the main reasons behind obesity, and nurse practitioners can decrease the risk of obesity in children.

The research question of the first study on obesity in children states that, “Does Socioeconomic Adversity, Family Dysfunction, Offspring Distress, and Junk Food Self- Medication is the reason behind early childhood obesity?” The second qualitative study question states, “Does a Nurse practitioner is the most suitable health care professional capable of providing treatment for obesity in children?” The objective of both articles was to elaborate on how junk food increases obesity and how nursing practices can reduce it. Article Support of Nursing Practical Issue

As the PICOT question states, increased fast food consumption leads to increases in the rate of obesity in school-going children. In the same way, the study of the role of the nurse in childhood obesity discusses the fact of how nursing practices can provide better health outcomes and decrease the risk of obesity in children. The article mainly focuses on providing nurses the ability to lead the healthcare department. Similarly, the article Early Childhood Obesity Risk Factors include the reason behind obesity in children. It states the main factors for obesity in children include; socioeconomic adversity, family problems, social distress, and junk food self-medication. This is how these articles support the nurse practice issue. Comment by Kathy Matson: Missing citationi Comment by Kathy Matson: Missing citation

The PICOT question includes School-Going Children of 5 to 15 Years, as children of this age group have a higher risk of obesity as compared to other individuals. The interventions and sample group taken in the articles for research purposes also includes school-going children till 9th grade in the US.

Method of Study

The research methodology in the articles under discussion is based on Qualitative research and methods. Both are presented with the help of earlier analyses and studies about obesity in children. However, the process and technique of both articles differ from each other at some points. The first qualitative article focused on the role of the nurse practitioner and childhood obesity included surveys. All the information needed for this article was gathered through questionnaires, which are used to collect data from the population in assessments to improve the hypothesis. This research design is based on an empirical study; all the information and results concluded in the study were derived from observations, hypotheses, and previous research and studies measurements. Comment by Kathy Matson: Neither article is qualitative research. Both are practice recommendations and are not research articles. Comment by Kathy Matson: Missing source citation

On the other hand, the second article, Early Childhood Obesity Risk Factors: Socioeconomic Adversity, Family Dysfunction, Offspring Distress, and Junk Food Self-Medication, included a BMI graph to identify their results of finding the reasons for obesity in children. This article further utilizes secondary data sources, which included interpretations from existing data, to conclude the results. This research is based on the facts and relevant information obtained from previous articles, academic books, and other accurate online sources. As both articles are based on qualitative research, the benefit of using qualitative research is the provision of flexibility in conducting research. Scholars can conduct interviews and gather individual opinions about their research objective. However, it doesn'tdoes not provide a statistical form of data and doesn't measure the data's authenticity. On the other hand, the first article utilized the questionnaire method; the benefit of using a questionnaire is to provide a practical way to gather data. But, its limitation is that questionnaires may include human errors and misrepresentation of data. Comment by Kathy Matson: Missing citation

Results of Study

The article's findings, the role of the nurse practitioner and childhood obesity states that about 90 % of the 192,000 nurse practitioners are providing proper healthcare treatment to children with chronic illness in the United States. Its key findings state that Nurses play an important and vital role in treating obesity in children. Comment by Kathy Matson: Missing source citation

The findings of the article Early Childhood Obesity Risk Factors conclude that early childhood is a critical period; therefore, disturbances in surrounding and junk food consumption can impact weight development. There can be many reasons for obesity, but junk food consumption is the major one. Its key findings include social issues and disturbance in the environment that cause emotionally triggered eating behavior, leading to obesity in children and fast-food consumption. About 55 % out of 100 % of school-going children were identify obese due to junk food consumption. Both studies state the importance of the nursing practice in reducing obesity in children. Both articles conclude that nurse practitioners should be provided with the position to lead the healthcare department to decrease chronic illness. Ethical Considerations

There are many ethical considerations in the conduction of medical or healthcare researchesresearch. Still, the two main considerations include informed consent and beneficence. Informed consent means that any individual should provide their consent in a clear and knowingly manner. On the other hand, beneficence (do not harm) means that your study should include useful content for others. It should not include any content that relates to discrimination. These ethical considerations are provided by the American Nurses' Association (ANA) Guidelines for Research and the Human Rights Guidelines for nurses in clinical and other research.

The researchers of both articles have conducted their research by keeping these ethical codes into consideration. Both articles provided content and conclusions that are beneficial in decreasing obesity and weight gain in the children. Both researchers have presented a portion of their articles that provides the key consideration of how to reduce obesity. This portion is showing the ethical consideration of Beneficence- Do not harm.
