Forum Discussion - FRONTS

Forum Contributions/ Response Grading & Expectations

To receive full credit for this forum, you must:

1. Read the FAA Safety Briefing on Airmasses and Fronts (Posted under Content, Test #2 resources)

2. Conduct your own research and read and cite at least one additional article.

**In this context an “article” could be (but is not limited to) a journal article, a book, newspaper story, a magazine article, or a reliable internet source (like the FAA website, not Wikipedia or blogs). Use the MTSU library website for searching for articles and be sure to click on full text and peer-reviewed)

3. By Sunday, June 12, write a forum contribution by providing a substantial post which integrates the reading(s) and your individual research (several paragraphs). Your contribution should have the elements outlined in the Forum Grading Rubric. Address the following areas:

a. While there are four different types of fronts, elaborate on one front and include how they form, general duration, and common characteristics

b. What were two findings from your own research that addresses the effects of fronts on aviation weather/flying?

c. Provide the APA reference(s) at the bottom of your post and be sure to include the FAA safety Briefing and your own article in the post (with in-text citations)

4. Proofread your discussion in Word prior to uploading into the forum

5. Lastly, you must respond to at least two of your classmates on their forum post by Monday, June 13.

While there is not a minimum word count for the forums, the contributions are expected to address the readings and incorporate outside, scholarly references. The forum responses should not be “I agree”, “Nice work” etc.; some examples include but are not limited to: engage in the discussion by elaborating on some of their key points and/or supplementing the discussion.
