Tech Bias... Urgent Assignment
In this unit, the video narrators will guide you as you explore persuasive reading and writing and as you learn to identify evidence and support for a thesis. You will continue to explore the differences between fact and opinion through use of subjective and objective readings and writings. You will read “Global Economies: Measuring a Society’s Progress,” a chapter from a sociology textbook, A Global Perspective. As you practice active reading within the unit, you will stop along the way to make entries in your journal as you consider various ways a concept can be defined using evidence. The NROC program provides support features to assist you such as an audio version of the reading. After the reading activities, the video narrators will once again guide you through your Writing Center assignment. You will write an essay defining what happiness means to you and supporting your definition with personal criteria. Your writing will be persuasive, giving thoughtful details about your perspectives. Additionally, you will benefit from practice using commas with items in a series, effectively using pronouns, apostrophe use, and practice with various sentence structures.
