Agile Approach in Project Management
In a global economy that entirely relies on Technology, communication of the product vision is crucial in ensuring the success of an agile product. Project Management in the IT Sector has been on constant transformation housing quite several tools and resources for effective Project Management (Kerzner, 2018). But over the years, the focus has shifted to Agile Software Development methodology for its superior abilities compared to the traditional software development methodologies. In our case, an e-commerce app is vital to the success of the Project. Additionally, a project manager is responsible for the proper communication of the product vision, which is critically dealt with at the project initiation phase. The project initiation phase is characterized by crucial characteristics that are inevitable for the success of the product. Therefore, the development of the business case is mandatory in which the team under the leadership of the team manager is able to identify critical project objectives that consolidate part of the feasibility study.
Communicating the project vision entails proper utilization of the information collected in the feasibility study that helps in the formulation of the activities that are crucial in ensuring that this objective is met. Additionally, in response to the inability of employees to be available at their physical offices, the agile, iterative approach has proved to be a necessity in which the employees from their remote locations are able to complete the tasks that are expected from them regardless of their geographic location. The agile approach is an adaptive model that will naturally acclimatize to the use of distributed computing and cloud computing that is on its trajectory path into the technological business scene.
Therefore, our employees in India will be able to be aware of the product vision, and each of them assigned a responsibility depending on their skills in response to their roles as stipulated by the project manager. Additionally, it not only results in the development of a quality product but as well as ensure that the ever-changing customer demands can be met in time. Additionally, the utilization of the Agile approach allows breaking down the large bulky work into small deliverables that are time-stamped; therefore, enforcing audit trail features that will make it easy for project assessment.
Customer satisfaction and Organizational profits are inevitable through the utilization of the Gantt chart in the development of the project schedule. Additionally, with the breaking down of the tasks from the various phases of the project manager is able to communicate the respective objectives to his/her employees effectively. However, the communication of the product vision entails the project management properly formulating the project objectives and equally ensuring that there is no occurrence of project scope creep. Therefore, it is mandatory for the stakeholders to be in unison in the acquisition of the new product that will not only seem organizational profits skyrocket but as well as customer needs being fully met.
Additionally, it is evident that the product vision entails three crucial activities that pertain; the development of the business case, the definition of the project scope, and involvement of the stakeholders. Stakeholders constitute the parties involved and the parties that would be affected by the acquisition of the new product; without their consent, the Project would not take off the ground. Therefore, the project manager needs to put forth proper measures that will ensure the incorporation of Technology by supporting the business operations will result in the protection of the interests of the involved parties.
The agile product manager is responsible for the entire production project management. Therefore, he/she is entitled to bringing forth his/her leadership skills that will bring the best from the employees working from home. Additionally, he is in charge of ensuring that the project objectives and the Project conform to the laid-out budget as well, which goes a long way in ensuring that the organizational profits are attained and not subverted as a result of incompetent leadership skills. Product management ensures that the desired commodity is produced not only by utilizing the lean company tools but as the production of quality and reliable Projects that would meet the business needs of the stakeholders. As a product manager, you will be entitled to manage product production, manage customer feedback, and instigate developmental changes in relation to the utilization of information technology to support the organization's business operations.
Additionally, as the team leads in the collaborative platform as a result of the agile iterative and collaborative nature, you are required to constantly review and assess the work your team members will be working on (Schwalbe, 2015). This goes a long way in ensuring that as a project manager, you conform to your role of supervision pertaining to the management of the Project. Equally, as the team leads, you are the architecture owner, which means that you will be responsible for assigning roles to the team members as well as allowing read and write operations depending on their job role specifications.
The organization of the Agile team is an area of concern that the architecture itself needs to address as well. Agile team constraints entail the number of team members involved as well as the number of employees who will be taking part in the collaborative product life cycle from project initiation to project closure. In our case, the crucial members for the success of the Project involve the team led, team members, product owners, and the shareholders. As the team lead and project manager, I am responsible for facilitating the team through activities that entail the provision of the required resources and ensuring that each and everyone performs an exemplary task. On the other hand, the team members constitute developers who are all assigned different tasks that will see the Project developed and deployed in the desired time frame. Additionally, a product owner represents the stakeholders, and is in an on-site official, for instance, in our Project, it is through the interest of one of the stakeholders that the Project has moved on to the next stage through is approval and relaying information to his/her fellow stakeholders. However, the success of the agile team equally encompasses the utilization of technical and domain experts who ensure that the product development is effective and proper security measures and protocols are utilized for the success of the Project.
Agile iteration ensures that the team lead can be able to conform to his/her deliverables entitled to a specific laid time frame. Additionally, this goes a long way in ensuring that the project objectives are successfully achieved without any deviation. Therefore, each team in unison with their strong team leads can set out short term deliverables that would slowly add on to the entire project architecture (Larson, 2017). Through this iterative nature, the team lead, team members, and stakeholders can access their logs and audit trails that not only aid in alignment with the project scope but also provide a solution to the identified business case. Teams in agile development measure the amount of work a team can be able to deliver using velocity that entails the use cases defined for a single sprint.
The stories tend to illustrate the incremental tasks that each team member has been up to, for instance, in our case, the team lead identifies the various use cases and assigns them to respective team members. In relation to the importance of the usage of stories in the iterative nature of project management, I am in full support. This is because it not only provides an effective assessment tool but also ensures that as the project manager, I will be able to bring the best in my employees pertaining to meeting the business objectives at the stipulated time frame.
In conclusion Project Management in the IT sector has a direct relationship with the overall performance of the project once it is completed. Which has given rise to better techniques that have made project management to be made more effective through various changes in the tools used that allow for the software and applications to be dynamically adjusted to the changing user requirements? Agile will remain crucial to ensuring that the project is successfully completed from start to finish. It is very adamant that effective Project Management is done to ensure that specific IT projects meet their deliverables to ensure a positive Overall Performance of the Project.
The overall performance of projects in IT has been the selling prepositions that have made organizations purchase the software. This has been possible by the ability to develop software that is an online full time, and changes to the systems can be made to the system without affecting the functionality of the order unless there is a slight lag when data is being refreshed following the update of the Project's database. Unlike traditional software that is solely focused on process, modern techniques focus on people who always need more interactive and well-graphical software and Applications for them to use.
