Dana Farber Is a hospital for individuals who are battling with cancer. Dana Farber believes that interpersonal is the best way to help clients by involving their family in services with their consent. Dana-Farber believes in counseling for each client to help achieve their goals in treatment and services to help them in any obstacle they are facing considered this is a difficult time for them. Dana provides services that exclusively on cancer and disease. Dana also has experienced clinicians’ radiologist, pathologist, medical oncologist, surgeons to care for clients in need. Considering that Dana Farber uses interpersonal as a psychotherapy they believe that family come first. Dana -Farber also provides wide range of patient and family support services to help clients family to move through their cancer experiences. On an ethical point of view, clients are to complete a consent prior to sharing their information with anyone even loved ones. According to the ACA code of ethic the code E.3.a. explanation to clients “prior to assessment, counselors explain the nature and purposes of assessment and the specific use of results by potential recipients. The explanation will be given in terms and language that the client or other legally authorized person on behalf of the client can understand” (ACA, 2014).

According to the state of Massachusetts law Licensed Mental Health Counselors must inform clients, in writing, of policies regarding confidentiality of information and the legal limits and exceptions to confidentiality. Licensed Mental Health Counselors shall not communicate either verbally or in writing with others about a client without the client's express written consent, including any legal proceedings, except when the limits of confidentially may legally be invoked, such as, but not limited to, cases of potential harm to the client or significant or deadly harm to others by the client, and legal

proceedings under M.G.L. c. 112, § 172(a). Licensed Mental Health Counselors shall ensure the

accuracy of client information shared with other parties, including any third-party payers” (Mass, Law).

A counselor it is our duty to inform clients when proceeding to make any plans. If the client is incapable, then the counselor is to inform the next party. Due to this client serve current state Dana-Farbe is a great place for Sarah due to the issues she is facing. Sarah could use the counseling services being provided and the theory they use. Due to Sarah’s current state she will benefit from services like group sessions and other activity including connecting with peers to ensure great recovery. Sarah stated she does not like sitting around and at this facility they provide a lot of activity that will enhance the quality of life for cancer patients and their supportive family members. Dana-farber provides counseling services that will help Sarah considered she will be away from family and her first time going through this service. Sarah also mentioned going through depression and at Dana they offer these exact services.

At HRI they have several services such as Honor strong program, general Adult partial program, women’s partial program, triangle partial program, dual diagnosis partial program, and evening intensive program. At HRI each service is connected with CBT to provide clients with service that best fit them. At HRI hospital CBT is used to help clients to help clients address any psychological treatment and inclusive space for all women.

HRI women program is conducted separately from other programs at HRI. At HRI some services are trauma and other abuse related issues, self-injurious behavior, domestic violence, substance use, and eating disorder. Because HRI theory is CBT to help with helping client’s thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes and how it can affect their feelings and behaviors. At HRI each client is seen by a clinician that will use CBT to help clients to motivate themselves and push themselves just by using their own positive thoughts. According to ACA code B.4. groups and families “In group work, counselors clearly explain the importance and parameters of confidentiality for the specific group” (ACA, 2014).

According to the state of Massachusetts law “626CMR8:3b prospective client who is to receive that service or function. Where the client or prospective client who is to receive the mental health counseling service is not mentally competent to give legally valid consent for the performance or provision of that service or function, the Licensed Mental Health Counselor shall not perform nor attempt to perform that service or function without the prior written consent of an individual who is legally authorized to give consent on behalf of that client or prospective client, or of a guardian appointed by a court of competent jurisdiction to act on behalf of that client or prospective client”(Mass law).Sarah being a women will benefit from this program after providing consent to the counselor. This program will benefit Sarah to the great services they provide. Leslie being someone who is currently ill will benefit from a program that will focus on her as a women and her needs. This program all is well known for individuals with depression like Sarah. HRI has a general adult program that Sarah can benefit from this program to help clients who are struggling with life stressors and other behavioral health.

Bamsi is a program that helps clients and advocate for them. At Bamsi the theory used is both interpersonal and CBT is used to help women be motivated and use their own thoughts in a positive way. CBT is also used to help clients going through behavioral issues who are experiencing behavioral issues and such as depression, addiction, and mental heal issues. When CBT is used it helps the client to have a great chance of full recovery from issues and create better coping skills. Bamsi uses interpersonal as a psychotherapy to help client focuses on improving quality of life for the client. Also, it helps relationships and social functioning to help reduce any stress the client may have. And resolving issues in four different key areas. At Bamsi clients are allowed visitors from their loved ones while it is an outpatient facility, they will sign an ROI in order to provide permission. Clients will also be assigned to a clinician to better serve them according to their needs while using these strategies.

Sarah a client who is going through depression and has cancer will bet fit for Bamsi due to their service and the connection they have with other services that can benefit Sarah because they can be helpful and help her maintain some great connections and resources. Sarah will provide. A consent prior to proceeding forward with treatment at this facility. At this facility Sarah will have a great social support from others to prevent increase social skills considered Sarah has experience depression. Sarah being of age she will benefit from a Facility like Bamsi because of the different program they have like day program and clubhouse and other services like somebody to check up on her. Bamsi has trained clinicians to emphasize clients to have social support to help client achieved their goals toward recovery while in treatment. Considering that Sarah is older she may develop social issues due to experiencing having to be alone while battling with both cancer and depression, like she mentions in session she was very active prior. In session clinician will also use strategy like SMART goals to help clients come up with goals and in order to achieve when leaving and while in treatment.

According to the ACA code of ethics code B.3. information shared with others “Counselors make every effort to ensure that privacy and confidentiality of clients are maintained by subordinates, including employees, supervisees, students, clerical assistants and volunteers” (ACA, 2014). Counselors are to inform clients of service they are providing clients especially when sharing information with others including loved ones. According to the State of Massachusetts law 262 CMR8.031 “(1) Licensed Mental Health Counselor treatment records shall include, but not be limited to, at a minimum: a signed informed consent document; (b)an intake summary; (c) an assessment or diagnosis; (d) a treatment plan; (e)dates and progress notes for each treatment session; (f) communications with collateral entities; (g) communications with clients relating to treatment, including electronic communications; and (h) a termination summary”(mass Law). As counselors our duty is not to solely protect clients form harm but also from sharing their information with others and making sure that we provide accurate services to them in order for clients to receive accurate and successful service in session.
