The Adult Cultural and Spiritual Assessment

Assignment Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student with the opportunity to conduct a complete cultural and spiritual history on an adult patient (age 18-64). This assignment constitutes 10% of the overall course grade.

Assignment Details:

Perform the following tasks:

1. Complete a cultural assessment using the ETHNIC mnemonic.

2. Complete a spiritual assessment using either the HOPE Approach or the FICA tool.

3. Research the importance and impact of a cultural assessment in patient care.

Write an APA formatted paper, no longer than 5 body pages. Paper is to be in APA format, no longer than 5 body pages (not including the title and reference pages). At least 3 references must be used that are professional, peer reviewed, scholarly articles.

The content of the paper should include the following:

1. Discuss your research findings from task #3 listed above.

2. Analyze your assessment findings and discuss your findings in relation to the research you did. Similarities or differences? Any thing stand out to you?

3. From your cultural assessment data, create 3 top priorities for a culturally appropriate care plan for your client either from an acute or primary care setting perspective.
