The rationale for My Application

As an expert in the field of psychology, I wish to expertise in both long as well as short terms in the field of the “community mental health.” I am looking forward to an extended as well as highly fruitful career assisting large numbers of people in the society to appreciate their fullest abilities, gathering contentment in their day to day life via the development of a healthy relationship with both the community and family. However, apart from helping people mentally, two key factors made me choose to peruse this program. Firstly, is that clinical mental health requires specialized training. I would like to acquire such specialized skills which would help me achieve my career goals. Secondly, counseling is a dynamic and varied field. My field of interest is changing every now and then as well as varying. Ongoing researches in psychology, sociology, neuroscience and even biology are often giving new insights into cause, techniques, and methods which can help the counselor be more productive. As a counselor, I would wish to stay on top of this growing body of knowledge as well as contributing to it through my own researches.

Influences of Previous Employment

In 2014, I worked as a tutor at an orphanage for one and a half years. Before that, from the beginning of 2010 through 2012, I served as a volunteer translator for Uzbek pilgrims and Turkish coming to the United States. In addition, I have taught high school science for six months in 2013. I took the advantage of my work environments to observe the behavior of both children and aged so I may learn all I could about the dynamics involved. Eventually, I realized that mental problem is common across all ages with depression and anxiety being the key causes of this disorder. Other factors I also across include Environmental factors and biological factors. Having witnessed this serious challenge facing people in the society and having a greater desire to help them, I decided to enroll for this program so I may get deep knowledge on how I can best help them. I convinced beyond reasonable doubts that upon completion of this program if opportunity granted, I will go back to the society and be a highly productive person.

Culturally Relevant Interpersonal Skills to My Program

Throughout my life, I have been interacting with people from different corners of the world. This is from the fact that I have been taking my studies from different countries and have also been moving from one country to another for domestic matters. As a result, I have come across a multiple of situations where I had to show my competence in cultural skills. For example, during my volunteer time, I had to stand in to break cultural ties to a visitor, a gentleman for this matter, who had language as well as cultural difficulties to access services. I was assigned to be assisting clients who visit our office for assistance and had challenges in speaking and hearing or not understand American English. Given that I learned special education at my early ages, I was able to assist clients who could not talk and hear. I would interpret to my manager about what the clients are saying and ensure that they are accorded the services they required. Moreover, given that I am a Multilingual, assisting those did not know our State language was an easy task for me. My services were not limited to an individual level only but also to small and huge groups. For instance, I remember a time we had a seminar in my volunteering organization and I was tasked to seminal be in charge of people with special needs when it was time for group discussions and presentation of the group work. I never and it has never come to my mind to discriminate none based on their gender, culture, ethnicity etc., but I look for ways to offer the best assistant to anybody in need.

Self-awareness

As previously mentioned, several factors including child and aged suffering out of mental health complications are among the key factors which triggered me to peruse this area of expertise. After observing how many are suffering in the society out of this disorder, I concluded that I would survive by the motto, “if I can just impact at least one person’s life then I have accomplished my goal and desire.” That implies that if I help at least one person, recover himself or herself and recognized his or her abilities, then I would have not only that individual but the whole community and whole globe at large.

I am a determined individual with high aspirations in my career. I easily adapt to different working environments as well as working with all sort of people. I have advanced listening skills and I have got excellent communication and leadership skills such as task delegation, arriving at an informed decision as well as running enterprise ideas. It is out of one of these my best skills, informed decision making which again propelled me to seek admission for this program.

Future Professional Goals in My Counseling Program

My future goals in my career include obtaining a Master degree in psychology, Mental health, then perusing professional papers so I may become a member of the Licensed Professional Counselor Association (LPCA). I would continue working hard to reach a level where I can now work alone as an outstanding psychologist in the field of Mental health within the LPCA. Eventually, I would venture in doing more researches to provide solutions to mental health challenges facing people in the society and whose solution is yet to be determined.

As at now, I have already identified that North Carolina needs that a scholar must have an undergraduate degree, particularly in behavioral science or human resources and again master degree in the selected area of counseling. After passing my examination as well as submitting the required paperwork, my application can be given the title of a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and be granted a chance to practice. More comprehensive levels follow with advancement in the levels of licensure.
