Interview Research Method

The research method I will use to answer the question of coping with death will be a primary method, precisely the interview method. This research will focus on a sample of 30 college students from Monroe college. The criteria used for interviewing will be through a structured questionnaire interview and a face-to-face interview. The process will take around two weeks to gather information from 30 students through face-to-face interviews and a minimum of 30 minutes for a structured questionnaire.

One of the criteria for collecting data through interviewing will be using a structured interview questionnaire with closed-end questions. In a structured interview which is a more personal quantitative approach, the questions have a standardized process representing similar questions to all 30 college students. The questions will be straightforward to prevent the interviewee from deviating from the primary concern of the process and allow for gathering relevant answers to the question asked. After 30 minutes of the interview, the questionnaires will be collected from the student and compared with data.

For the face-to-face interview process, an unstructured set of questions will be formulated to allow the student to flow with the concept due to the diversity of people. After establishing a rapport and gauging the psychology of the respondent, the questions will be modified to fit the situation and diversity of each college student. The interview should be a casual talk to avoid students feeling pressured and interfering with the accuracy of the data collected. Each response from the group of thirty students will be recorded as an individual entry. The data collected will be compared entry by entry to develop a typical response for most students. The data will also be compiled from the structured interview and come up with a common trend in the responses. The trend in the structured interview will serve as a reference point to compare the face-to-face interview due to its confidentiality.
