Capstone Integrative Paper

The client is a 16-year-old black male involved in the juvenile justice system

after an arrest for burglary at 15. While in custody for this arrest, the client informed

authorities that he had been left alone by his mother and does not know where she is. She is

addicted to crack cocaine and has only been a part of his life sporadically. He does not know his

father because he has never been a part of the clients life. This information given to

authorities prompted his removal from his mother’s custody. He was ruled by the juvenile justice

court as a neglected child in need of supervision, and he is now under custody of the state.

The client was placed under the care of his aunt after removal from his mother’s custody, while awaiting the hearing for his burglary charge. While under the care of his aunt, he molested her 4-year-old daughter. He was removed from the home at that time and placed back in the custody of the state. While back in custody, he attended an inpatient treatment program where he completed a sex offender program. Kinship care was attempted at that time, but no one in his family is willing to care for him. He is currently residing in a foster home with other teenagers his own age or older. No charges have been filed against him for the molestation allegations at this time.

 Make sure that you are integrating citations to support what you are advancing. Also, you need to have a discussion on how youth involved with both the child welfare system and juvenile justice system are a diverse population. Also equally important is the need for a discussion on the disproportionate number of African American youth in both systems. This should definitely be discussed. What are some of the challenges unique to this population that brought them to the attention of these systems to begin with? Go further to discuss the significance of cultural competence, managing biases, cultural differences and how it impacts thate development of programs, services, and how decisions are made. Last, you did not examine diversity through the lens of your client. Go further...think critically

The paper has to go along with client and apply to the topic being discussed. The policy needs to be a policy that corresponds to Dual Involvement with the Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice System.
