project
THE 1130
Instructor: Joyce Bamman
Final Project Instructions
MASK: ACTOR
For your final project, you will perform a monologue (a solo speech) or a duo scene (with two people) from (play on syllabus). You will prepare for this short performance as you would prepare and rehearse in a professional, full-length production of this play.
Here are the components of your final project:
· Choose a monologue or scene from the play – approximately one minute in length. It’s best to choose a selection in which your character has a strong want or objective.
· Complete the Short Form Role Analysis sheet for your character, being as thorough and detailed as you can be.
· Rehearse your chosen piece, adding vocal and movement choices to help portray the character and communicate the story. The piece must be memorized.
· Costumes and props are not necessary, but they might help you to “get into character” and be more convincing in the part.
· Using a webcam or other recording device, record the performance. It doesn’t have to be professional quality, but it helps if it’s neatly edited. This should be something you’d be willing to post on YouTube or Facebook – not a thrown-together thing.
· Submit your video and character analysis sheet as attachments for this assignment.
