Access Database End User Development Project

The purpose of this individual project is to introduce you to databases and building your first Access database with tables, relationships, queries, forms, and reports. Within a business, there can be a large amount of data that needs to be managed. This data needs to be managed consistently and in such a way that it can be easily accessed, updated, and reviewed as needed. Databases allow a company to collect data in one central location. Databases consist of a collection of related objects. Typically, these objects are either tables, queries, forms, or reports. The following tutorial gives a brief introduction to each object and some of the characteristics and terminology for each. After completing this tutorial, you will have created your first database using Access.

The scenario presented is that this firm needs to get better and more in-depth information on its sales representatives, his/her sales and the branches of the firm. To do this, you have suggested that the company track the information in a database.

Instructions: Follow the tutorial instructions on the linked PDFPreview the document to create the Sales database. Complete all sections, A through S. Do not complete Section T - Uploading to Entropy. You are going to be submitting the database to the Assignment area here in Canvas.

To submit the completed database: Make sure your database is closed. Access should not be open when you upload it to Canvas. Be sure to save a copy of your database onto a permanent storage device, then upload the file to Canvas. After you have submitted the file, you should check your file size: If it is small (under 500KB or zero), there’s a good chance that you either left the database open when you attempted to upload it or you uploaded a shortcut link to your database. In either case, upload the file again, making sure to follow the steps above. If you accidentally uploaded the wrong file, you can re-upload until the due date. Every new upload overrides all previous uploads with the new file. Your instructor will only receive the most recent upload from you.
