Enhanced Microsoft Access 2016 Chapter 8 – Lab Test A
Creating Macros and a Navigation Form
Purpose: To demonstrate the ability to create macros and a navigation form.
Problem: Your boss wants you to add a navigation form to the HaveMore Electronics database. This will require you to create macros to help you with your navigation form.
Instructions: Open the Access_Chapter_8_-_Lab_Test_A_-_HaveMore_Electronics file provided in a location specified by your instructor and execute the following tasks:
1. Create a macro named Forms and Reports that will include submacros to perform the following tasks:
a. Open the Outlets Form form in read-only mode.
b. Open the Sales Rep Master Form form.
c. Open the Inventory and Item Data Form.
d. Preview the Inventory report.
e. Preview the Outlet Master Report report.
f. Preview the Sales Rep by Outlet Report report.
g. Export the Inventory report in PDF format.
h. Export the Outlet Master Report report in PDF format.
i. Export the Sales Rep by Outlet report in PDF format.
2. Create the menu form shown in Figure A8A – 1. The command buttons should use the macros you created in Step 1 to open the Outlets Form, the Sales Rep Master Form, and the Inventory and Item Data form. Name the form Forms List.
3. Create the menu form shown in Figure A8A – 2. The option group should use the macros you created in Step 1 to preview and export the three reports. Name the form Reports List.
4. Create a datasheet form for the Sales Rep table and name the form Sales Rep Datasheet. Create a UI macro for the form. When a user clicks a sales rep ID on a row in the datasheet, the Sales Rep Master Form form should appear in a pop-up form.
5. Create the navigation form shown in Figure A8A – 3 for the HaveMore Electronics database. Use the same design for your navigation form as the one illustrated in this chapter. For example, the Sales Rep tab should display the Sales Rep Datasheet form you created in Step 4. The Forms tab should display the Forms List form you created in Step 2, and the Reports tab should display the Reports List form you created in Step 3. Name the navigation form, Main Menu.
6. Submit the revised database in the format specified by your instructor.
