Review Project In this Review Project you will help an office supplies retailer order new inventory by creating a report. When you are finished, your report will be similar to Figure 3.43.

Step 1 Download start file
1. Open the data file AC2016-3-5-Supplies.accdb. If the database opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button so you can modify it.
2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save.
3. Click the Supplies Needed query in the Navigation pane, but do not open it.
4. Click the Create tab.
5. Click Report Wizard.
6. Choose the Supplies Needed query in the drop-down list of Tables/Queries (if it is not already
selected).
7. Add the following fields from the Available Fields list: a. Double-click “VendorName.” b. Double-click “Description.” c. Double-click “NumNeeded.” d. Double-click “Cost.” e. Double-click “TotalCost.”

8. Click Next.
9. Click Next again to confirm that you will view the data by Vendors.
10. Click Next to confirm that you do not want any other grouping.
11. Click the drop-down arrow and choose to sort the records by “Description.”
12. Click the Summary Options button.
13. Click the check box to calculate a sum of “TotalCost.”
14. Click OK.
15. Click Next.
16. Click the option button for a Landscape orientation.
17. Click Next.
18. Set the title of the report as Purchase List.
19. Click Finish to preview the report.
20. Click Close Print Preview to view the report in Design View. (Close the Field List or Property
Sheet pane if either appears on the right.)
21. Click the text box with the contents “ =’Summary for’ & …” in the “VendorName” footer. Press
Delete.
22. Click the “Sum” label. Press Delete.
23. Click the text box with the contents “=Sum([TotalCost])” in the “VendorName” footer.
24. Press Up Arrow twice to move the text box up slightly.
25. Click Bold button (B) in the Report Design Tools: Format tab.
26. Click the Apply Currency Format button.
27. Click the text box with the contents “Sum([TotalCost])” in the Report footer.
28. Click the Bold button (B).
29. Click the Apply Currency Format button.
30. Click the Font Size drop-down arrow to choose 12.
31. Click the Home tab.
32. Click the View button and switch to Report View. Note the “###” symbols, indicating the text
boxes are too small to display a number completely.
33. Click the View button and switch to Layout View.
34. Click the “TotalCost” label.
35. Hold down Shift and click the text boxes in that column so all “TotalCost” text boxes are
selected, including the sums at the bottom. Continue to hold down Shift.

36. Press Right Arrow six times to make the text boxes wider.
37. Press Ctrl+S to save the new design.
38. Click File.
39. Click Print.
40. Click Print Preview. Ignore the warning about the report width being too wide (if it appears).
41. Click PDF or XPS to save the report as a PDF named your lastname_your
firstname_Supplies.pdf in the location specified by your instructor.
42. Click Close Print Preview.
43. Close the report and exit Access.
44. Upload and save your project file. For grading in SIMnet, upload the database (.accdb) file.
45. Submit your project.
