Internship Description/SMART Goals Essay
I am currently interning at RG Pacific which is a full service digital agency that serves many companies in web marketing, web design/development, E-commerce, and mobile solutions. The company’s mission is to create a sound strategy to help clients increase conversions, leads, improve ROI, increase their web presence, and optimize user online experience. Through a creative team with experience and great customer service we strive to make every client’s project or campaign a success. The departments in which I am currently stationed at is marketing and sales. On the marketing department I provide assistance with banner/campaign designs, forming boards on trello in order to manage new projects, and assist in managing clientele social media accounts. In the sales department I have the position of “Business Development Manager” which is a fancy word for sales, I reach out to potential clients with information of our services. Once potential clients are interested I contact them through phone and email in order to set up meetings with our President. These two departments provide the structure and flow of the company as RG Pacific needs sales in order to provide online services to clients.
With being active in two departments I am gaining valuable knowledge on the work that goes into both fields of the business. As a management major the marketing aspect will provide me a greater understanding of what it takes to market different professions and industries in a variety of work fields. In marketing there are specific tasks/duties to be performed based on what a client is searching for, for instance it can range from pay per click management (PPCM), Social media marketing, email marketing, and Amazon PPC. I recently began working on Email and social media marketing as we acquired two new clients (Hashtag Cutouts & Pulmonary Fibrosis Now) who are both trying to optimize their sales. Through Facebook and Instagram we promote the type of business and work these companies provide as we manage postings and direct customers to their web pages with promotions of discounts. We can observe how many people clicked, viewed, and purchased inventory through Facebook business Manager and Shopify. I provide assistance with the constructing of coupons with the correct links and codes, managing campaigns on social media, and content writing for postings. The second half of my day consists of sales where I am sending specific oriented emails to different companies in order to gain potential leads. I follow a certain script with all the necessary information needed so when the leads call the office I am ready to provide them with the correct assistance.
I appreciate the work environment at the office as there are daily huddles which keeps everyone in the loop and it creates a team/family environment. I always work best in comfortable settings and with the teamwork provided I feel the welcoming and support that has ultimately helped me structure my SMART goals. While interning at RG Pacific I’ve set some SMART goals for myself in order to help me develop my management skills. These SMART goals are, to play a significant role in helping surpass last year’s number of clientele for the company in the quarters I am interning, obtain new skills that will be beneficial for me in the field of business, and to be able to attend a pre-bid conference as a representative of RG Pacific. SMART goal 1: beating last year’s numbers,
· I will be achieved through the training I have received in pitching our services and executing them to my best of abilities.
· My goal can be measured by the first quarter numbers which are to have at least twenty new clients and since January 25th when I began interning I have been able to acquire seight clients making it a total of twenty-one new clients. With the numbers being greater than expected I am on the right path to accomplishing my goal by beating every quarters minimum.
· My goal is being attained by being able to achieve the amount of new clients with a short time span. By accomplishing the task of being able to get new companies on board I have demonstrated efficiency in doing what is required of me.
· The reflection of my work ethics and dedication has improved the business as what I demonstrate is the success of my training and ability to learn.
· At the current pace in the time bond I have I will be able to successfully accomplish my goal by surpassing 2nd quarter numbers in May with continuing the work I have been presenting.
The second SMART goal:
· obtaining new skills are going to be accomplished by learning how to make online banners, learning how to use photoshop, and learning how to use shopify and magento.
· Before starting the internship I didn't have a single idea on how any of these programs worked. I can measure this goal by the new knowledge I will gain on knowing how to use all these contents.
· I have gained a better understanding on how each of these are made and developed. For online banners I started using photoshop and canva which are pretty straight forward programs used to create and edit picture content. Magento and shopify are more complex to use and understand but being able to work alongside the marketing manager I’ve been able to learn the basic functionalities of the web development and design programs.
· With my skill development RG Pacific is benefiting as I will be another person with the needed knowledge on being able to help out clients with their needs of business.
· This goal will be obtained by May as I will have already have gained enough knowledge on being able to create content for websites, with more time my know how will expand.
The last SMART goal:
· Be a representative of RG Pacific at a pre-bid conference that I will accomplish through dedication and willingness to learn as I need to be able to present myself in a professional manner.
· To attend a pre-bid conference I need to be part of building a plan (Request For Proposal) and know all information on the proposal being presented. I need to have all information memorized and be an efficient intern where I can be trusted with such responsibility.
· I will work hard to achieve the necessary information and abilities required to make a proposal to be able to present it to an audience. I’ve started staying extra hours at the office in order to help expedite this process.
· I want to learn as much as possible in the amount of time I have. I will improve the business through the mindset I bring to the company that will expand the sales aspect and create new opportunities.
· Within my time frame at RG Pacific I will acquire my goal by sticking to the game plan and striving to excel. I am taking the proper steps needed to learn and grow.
Interning at RG Pacific has been the first step into embarking into the business world where I am trying to pursue a career in. Through marketing, sales, and a great team I have been able to obtain life and work skills that will help me out in the desired future I want for myself. As presented by Deekay, “In the world of today when everyone dreams to become big and powerful it is essential to be on familiar terms with some tips to remain balanced in the time of trouble so that he or she can achieve his or her desired place.” I will be looking forward to new responsibilities and goals so that I may never stop learning the composition of what it takes to run a business.
