Leadership in 4000.
My leadership story on my view I give tribute to all people who mentored me to the leader I am today. It started the moment I majored in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Lawrence Technological University. This was steered by the courses I had to take during the course of study. At the beginning of my leadership story, in COM 1001 I had an interview with Dr. Ken Cook, who is one of my best professors at Lawrence Technological University. He guided me in understanding, a leader is and the qualities of a good leader. This to me was a challenge and the beginning of my leadership journey.
The next experience that helped me gain leadership skills was during the study of Six Sigma 2, in this course I learned how to hold to ethics. This, I learned through the experiences I had with my classmates who wanted to copy my work and another wanted to present it as hers. My stand of not offering them the assignment helped me develop an ethical skill which is a very important skill of any leader.
My journey did not end there; my third skill of leadership to learn was patience. I learned this through the Technical Project Management course I took in Lawrence Technological University (LTU). During this course, I had to learn to tolerate my uncooperative group members. This experience helped to develop the essential skill of patience in leadership. This helped me to be patient with people.
The other leadership skill I learned when I volunteered in a daycare center. During this period of volunteering, I interacted with children of different age and this required me to be patient, good in communication, to have empathy, be social, humble and being creative and innovative. These are essential skills for any leader in leadership.
Furthermore, I learned communication skills during my next volunteering period in Gleaners Community Food Bank. During this period I had to interact with different people to perfect my recording task and therefore the skill of communication was very important here. I remember my encounter with the director the day I failed to turn in for my task. Lucky enough, my communication skills helped me solve the issue. This was how I learned my communication skills.
The most essential skill for a leader is time management. This one I learned it through my Engineering Economic Analysis at Lawrence Technological University (LTU).I had a lot of assignments during this course and therefore I had to develop the skill of time management to enable me to do all the assignments and submit them when due. Time management has been and still remains the most essential skill of any leader.
To sum up, my story of leadership is steered by both Lawrence Technological University during my courses. These included; the interview with Dr. Ken Cook in the COM 1001, Technical Project Management, Six Sigma 2 and Engineering Economic Analysis. I also learned leadership skills outside Lawrence Technological University (LTU), this was through the volunteering in Daycare and Gleaners Community Food Bank. This is my journey to leadership.
I declare that this is my own original work and no part of it is copy-pasted from any source.
