Kushner is trying to illustrate that a family can be made by considering people's body size. Grouping people by their body size in a way that seems so appealing such that people with almost similar body size and of opposite genders can comfortably engage and make progress in their relationship. Other patterns of relationships framed like this are those of people from the same state, such that in a class where people are of different nations, I am probably matching the opposite gender of my country. Secondly, these groupings are made according to interests and hobbies such that people with the same hobbies have a good chance of making good couples. In other ways, this grouping based on a person's general behavior when interacting with peers, for instance, some classmates are ever looking serious from their appearance, they are likely to fall in one group of couples in case of the opposite gender.
