Abilities That Will Help Me Succeed in My Teaching Career

Teaching, just as any other career needs skills and strategies to make the processes of teaching and learning to be a competent. We have many capabilities found in life and work as well, and each of that is useful for each job. In relation, these three abilities will hopefully help me succeed as a competent teacher: work ethic, communication skills, and resilience.

Work ethics calls for the ability and willingness to voluntarily put in long hours in my work, keep learning through the process and pay the needed attention to the work of others. It is safe to argue that such skills are vital in today’s workplace. Maintaining a credible work ethic will also, in the long run, lead to the pragmatic benefits of hard work.

We all know the fact that effective communication is the key to a successful career. Having the ability to communicate with my colleagues as well as my students effectively will position me to succeed in my teaching career. From the experiences that I have had in life, at times simple issues get out of control simply because of miscommunication.

Making mistakes is inevitable, but come to think of it, that is the nature of trying something new. However, I believe that the ability to succeed in my career will be embedded in my ability to rebound from the errors made and avoid repeating them. Subsequently, this is where the concept of resilience comes in. The ability to be resilient in this case will ensure that aside from successfully carrying out my duties, I will be poised to grow quickly in my teaching profession.

In conclusion, success in teaching just as any other career usually means applying the same skills that will help one thrive in his or her career. Resiliency, work ethics, and communication skills have been pointed out as the three main skills that will help me thrive in my teaching career.
