Week 2 Discussion

            In the past, I have been involved in a bridge construction project. This was a challenging project because it was the first time taking part in a big project. We worked with a tight schedule and budget as the stakeholders needed the project ready within a four months period. The main goal of the project was to complete the bridge that would connect two wild animal’s reserves across a road. The stakeholders needed a bridge going over a busy road that wild animals could use to cross a road without interfering with the traffic. The other goal was to ensure the normal traffic was not disrupted during the construction works. I was assigned a distinctive role of quality assurance to ensure all the works were done effectively without compromising the quality of the final bridge.

            The project scope was clearly defined as the government of California needed to construct an overpass bridge to be used by wild animals in crossing a 101 highway in the Northern part. The bridge was to be done on a three acre land and was to be supervised by engineer Sheik McCool. The project was expected to take four months with a $35000 budget. What was not clear in the scope is that it failed to capture the cost breakdowns and the personnel to be involved in the project.

This WBS gives a hierarchical outline of all tasks that must be performed to complete a project. A WBS helps in managing project deliverables because the tasks are broken down into small units that are easy to implement (Mong, 2022). Project implementers should follow the WBS in details to ensure all tasks are well performed.
