From this course, I acquainted myself with the concept of the methodologies, influence over the stakeholder’s communication well as their fundamentals. On the other hand, in this report I come to know the various number of methodologies as well as how to choose the specific kind of methodology in the particular project.
Course Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1:
Summary
Talking about the project, there are number of methodologies which one managers can use to developed as well as manage the project completely. Various types of methodologies such as Scrum, Agile, PRINCE2, Waterfall, XP, PMBOK etc. In the addition to this, there are number of fundamental actions in the project development such time, allocating roles, describing budget, allocating resources etc. From the read case study about ‘The Royal Bank of Scotland’
Which was evolving a system for the dependable record of the data in their database system.
By the study as well as analysis of the case study on the RBS what I have observed that there was practical project methodology missing in the project which was concluded as a dynamic one it was the cause for the continuous modification or the variations going on. However, I thought that if the project was established with the systematic approach, the outcomes could be easily optimised.
On the other hand, noticing the above case I realized that the importance of the project management methodology as well as several task handled by adjusting the project management methodology. As far as the project leader of the project I come to know the numerous things about the project. However, my very first involvement in the project was quite difficult. It includes the deployment of the various types of sensors, containing the coding in java as well as little bit of python. In the addition to this, the linkage of the application Smart Kitchen to the database was quite interesting as well as typical.
Evidence
Talking about when I was in my training in the android application development of Smart kitchen which is compatible for the mobile phones. It includes the various important things in the project. There have been various issues which was faced during the development of the android application. It carries the most attractive as well as basic features which required the basic codding for creating within the application of Smart Kitchen. I have also learn how to build the application with the IOT functionalities as well as building the functionalities by linking it with to the Arduino.
Learning Outcome 2:
Summary
In this report, it is come up with the expression that the stakeholders are the connected participants to the project. These different associates are subtly linked or openly related to the project. For the particular project success or the failure, these stakeholders occupy an important place in the particular project. The methodology of the management of the project is the intentional typical method which is employed by the stakeholders to contribute in the project. There are certain constraints under which they have to work and complete the work for the delivery of the projects to the clients fulfilling their requirements. Project managers have to undertake the project and they are completely responsible for the execution of the project. They have to supervise the entire process and the functioning of the stakeholders as per the given constraints. They are fully responsible for the successful completion and the constraints that are faced by the stakeholders. It is the basic requirements from the stakeholders to have good communication skills, ability of decision making, handling skills in the exceptional cases etc. Tailor in profession, my uncle once got a 1000 dresses for yearly convention of an institute. The ordered come up to make the good as well as economical quality dresses for the scholars in a week. There were only 50 workers for the completion of the task within the week. They made a plan to work day and night under a great pressure. By the information given to the workers that they were provided a good incentive for achieving this. However, by the god grace somehow they manage to achieved that order by making those 1000 dresses within the week and this lesson teach me the project management methodology how makes the stakeholders keep working on the task despite the limitations.
Evidence
In this course of the management of the project, it was clear elaboration that how the working managers, project managers as well as stakeholders get out of the pressure with the specific adoption of the project management methodology. According to the example of my uncle I come to know with the situation where he successfully able to accomplish the desired goal of the organization. However, incentives were the most important thing in making the management of the project by encouraging the number of stakeholders as well as the workers for the accomplishment of the project.
Learning outcome 3:
Summary
From this project management concept, I understand the various knowledge about the number of project management methodologies. According to the project, the main focused on the PRINCE2 methodology is given as well as on its components. According to my observation as well as analysis, for the OGC I studied that PRINCE2 methodology. The projects with the methodologies in the conjunction with its components has provider bigger advantages such as Aeroengine and SKF. Hand stage boundaries, leading, managing delivery, monitoring stages and ending with the conclusion of the project by the project managers which utilised the component of this methodology. The project plan, product based development as well as the breakdown structure of work which was my belief that the major constituents they are being utilised.
Evidence
During the course of my interns which went for the six months at the abc.Net Ltd, which includes the development of banking application. The application requires the number of efforts in order to meet the banking sector requirement. The application carries various transaction fulfilment services so that users do not need to visit every time to the website which feels them quite monotonous. From all of the above analysis it is stated that the correct selection of the methodology in the particular project impacts a lot.
Week 5
Evidence: By the help of good understanding as well as management of the knowledge which helps in dropping or reducing the risk as well as brings the effectiveness in the project. This is possible by the process of reusing the number of various methods. Talking about the mature organization, the project teams are able to learned the knowledge base of teachings as well as understand the procedures for aggregating them into a new project. The project managers require to take the first step if anytime a project remains isolated.
Summary : - Talking about the knowledge management which is an procedure as well as be influenced by how people can best take part in independently kept knowledge resources. The 49% of the organizations measured have more or less type of the knowledge management system in use at the corporate level as by the Forbes/SAP survey. On the other hand, 31% of the participants of the survey are in course of evolving one. However, from an amorphous mode, this study presented that 80% of the information taken from this mode.
Week 6
Evidence – Various perplexing as well as fascinating projects are at the time to decide on. However, getting the project that is similar to your field, as well as correct projects for your side’s skillset. On the basis of thorough logical thinking to select a project as well as take out unwanted projects that have a few chances of getting any closer to the success by the project selection methods. However, for working on the project managers as well as candidates organizing for the PMP test similarly, project selection approaches are the significant ideas.
Summary - In several manners, the project selection will be possible and will be executed. However, before you make a choice related to a project, think out about a comprehensive range of the aspects in advance. However, it should be assured much as you can that the best judgement is made for the organization. In today’s business world is to construct the friendly consumer relations, create operational which is a significant requirement. On the other hand, other company aspects may consist of needs of the stakeholders, change of management, administrative issues, projected drives etc.

Week 8
Evidence
Talking about the evidence that there exist system tools, programs, management principles as well as portfolio which is to be achieved by the PPPM. Talking the advantage of the PPPM application system starts with the efficiency of keeping the data in the less space. The manual PPPM application system is less expensive to setup. However, the transactions can be easy. The less corruption of the data in the manual application system is the main advantage. However, there is not any duplicate copies of the data information. The enhanced time and confusion is the disadvantages of the manual system. However, the redundant data is not easy as well as keeping as well as maintaining them is not at all easy.
Summary : According to the inferred that the electronic system should be given the preference over the manual in order to keep up with the time. Occurring in the system many of the advancements as well as technology every day, the advantages of the electronic set-up are more valuable than the disadvantages of the manual system. IT is independent as well as there do not exist any inconsistency in the data. However, there is no lack of security as well as the information can be shared in the bulk. In the number, the required efforts as well as physical space is also high compared to the manual PPPM application system.
Week 9
evidence : One need to make the team accept the changes as well as there can be change at any time. In occurring in the organization, the manager has to talk about the change. There is the need of briefing the tasks to the team so that they can manage it well. So that the employees can tackle it well, there is also need of easing out the whole process. By setting the proper goals for the team, the performance can be managed.

The team understand what are the expectations of the projects by defining as well as understanding the scope of the project. However, with the use of the business breakdown, there is the requirement of creating the plan that can be easily achieved as well as executed.
Summary : I analysed from the above portfolio report that the methodologies plays a vital role in the completion of the project of the particular organization. The proper effective and the efficient project must be consisting the elements such as time, budget, quality metric. In order to best one can be chosen for the better decisions, there is the requirement of analysing the alternatives.

28. Present and interpret major processes that are based on sound policy, information, and research that enable project justification, tenders, contracts, and selection criteria to occur in an asset rich organisation. |
While learning about the sound policies based on tender acquisition, I analysed that there are several activities performed by the project managers which are crucial in nature as it requires hard efforts and coordination of the tasks. Some of the sound policies and criteria are as mentioned below: · Preparing the effective business case for securing the management approval from the managerial authorities by collecting the expected outcomes of the contract. · Assembling the team members to assign them with the appropriate tasks to perform · Developing the contract strategy by analysing the nature of the contract to ensure supplier meets and allowing effective performance improvements. · Risk assessment should also be performed for developing the effective strategies to mitigate the unwanted outcome happening · Developing tender/contract termination strategy by meeting the expectations of the clients from the delivered system. By my understanding, contract selection criteria is a complex task and can be handled effectively by grafting the specifications as well as tender documentations for supporting desired outcomes of the contracts.

29. Critically analyse management strategies and operational activities from a broad perspective to ensure safety and quality, to avoid overruns or rework, to manage variations and claims, and to make decisions to discontinue or close projects. |
From my study, I analyse the importance of management of operational and strategic activities. It is necessary to build the conditions for ensuring the safety and quality to the contracts by avoiding cost and time overruns. Some of the factors contributing in the project delays are as mentioned below: · Designing error I the primary factor contributing in the project delay which is often overlooked by the project managers. · Constantly changing project scope can be another factor contributing in the project delay as project scope should be defined in the initial stage for delivering the project on agreed deadline. · Inadequate procurement can also be contributing factor in the project delay as it fails to manage the variations. · Other contributing factors are complexity of the project which is raised due to the inefficiency of project manager to break down the project in simpler terms. By my understanding, managerial authorities must have broad view about the contract and tender variations for managing the project effectively by ensuring its quality and safety. |

33. Present and interpret major processes that are based on sound policy, information, and research that enable project justification, tenders, contracts, and selection criteria to occur in an asset rich organisation. |
From this study, I have learnt about the selection process of contracts and tenders and their importance in asset rich organizations. I have learnt process based on sound policy, research and information that is used for tender and contract selection. This process is also called MOD tendering process which consists of various steps such preparation of tender document, issue tender documentation, bidders conference, receive tender, evaluate tender, iterative tenders, award contract and debrief. This is a best process for selection of contract and tenders within asset rich organizations. I have learnt that there are some factors that must be considered during the contract selection such as uncertainty of scope of work, need for predictable project cost, schedule milestone dates and risk of unexpected cost increases. |

34. Critically analyse management strategies and operational activities from a broad perspective to ensure safety and quality, to avoid overruns or rework, to manage variations and claims, and to make decisions to discontinue or close projects. |
My learnings include to understand various strategies and operational activities that helps to maintain security and quality of the projects. With the help of effective strategies such as risk management, it would be easy to avoid cost overruns and to make effective decisions related to project closing or execution. I have learnt that risk management allows organizations to identify weaknesses, strengths, opportunities and threats of project. The problem if project budget overruns can be managed effectively with the help of 360-degree planning strategy which is an exhaustive strategy where team cannot leave any kind of stone unturned. Effective planning is one of the biggest instrument in order to manage delays and cost overruns. With the help of good PO system, proper scheduling can be done by the project manager. For scheduling purpose, Gantt chart or any other advance scheduling tool can be used. The best way is to pay a lot of attention to the project planning so that effective decisions can be made related to project cost or overruns. In order to achieve the goals of project, risk management is best strategy. |

35. Demonstrate an effective, professional level of teamwork and communication and support collaborative peer group learning. |
I have learnt the value of teamwork, communication and collaboration in the successful development of projects. When I was working in a team, then I have realized that common goals of teamwork are difficult to achieve If there is lack of communication among team members. I observed that the ideas can be shared in an effective way while working in a team which help to create more innovative idea that can increase the productivity of project. Hence, I have realized that productivity of projects can be enhanced in an effective way with the help of collaborative peer group learning. I have learnt that the team can deliver projects on time and achieve all their goals with effective team work and communication only which supports collaborative team learning. The organizations can effectively achieve their goals related to projects if the team members have effective teamwork and communication skills. |

36. Review using clear terminology the key areas and processes of project, program and portfolio management practices as applies to asset rich organisations.. |
From this study, I have learnt the importance of project, portfolio and program management in order to manage discrete packages of work for achieving project objectives. The work within asset rich organizations can be managed in effective way with the help of these type of management. Project management consists of various areas such as project integration management, time management, scope management, cost management, human resource management, stakeholder management, risk management, project communication management and procurement management. The process of project management consists of project initiation, planning, execution, control and validation, closeout and evaluation phase. I have learnt that portfolio management process is on-going way to manage portfolio assets of client. The process of portfolio management includes planning, execution and feedback phases. The planning phase consists identification of objectives, investment policy statement, capital market expectations, asset allocation strategy, portfolio selection, portfolio management, monitoring and rebalancing and performance evaluation. I have learnt that program management comprises five stages such as start-up, define programme, establish programme, manage programme and closure. I have learnt that project management is focusing on strategic, process, people, learning and growth and project leadership key areas.

37. Discuss the relevance of tools and techniques for investigating and describing project process related to developing new workings, facilities, equipment, plant and processes for justifying, designing, developing, or maintaining existing facilities and equipment within the context of their technological and asset lifecycle status. |
I have learnt various project management tools that are used for project investigation. I have learnt that with the help of PERT Chart and Gantt chart in the project planning phase, it would be easy for organizations to describe the projects with new facilities, plant, processes etc. that will be helpful to identify the asset lifecycle status. With the help of asset life cycle, better knowledge related to project requirements can be achieved as it provides clear picture of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). I have learnt that planning, deployment, decommission, upgrade, usage, salvage ad procurement are main stages of Asset life cycle through which it is easy for organizations to identify new facilities, equipment, processes and plants during project management. |

The tools which are used for investigating and describing project process like new equipment, new working or facility are software editor and technique which can be used is questionnaire. The software editor allows the team to construct any new working or facility or project and the relevancy of the tool can be verified from the ease of code it is providing. The technique like questionnaire describes that what type of new working can be established and it is relevant because the analyses on it creates a direct output which indicates the demand of that new working. The tools for designing or maintaining the existing equipment is tool catalogues which provides the equipment manager with data and graphics about the existing working of the project. From this data, the manager can make decision about how accurately the equipment’s are getting managed. |

44. Critically analyse management strategies and operational activities from a broad perspective to ensure safety and quality, to avoid overruns or rework, to manage variations and claims, and to make decisions to discontinue or close projects. |
The main strategies that can avoid the cost overrun or rework for managing the variations are scheduling of critical tasks first, which means, manager must schedule the critical tasks appropriately. Another strategy that can work in this direction is accurate resource utilization as per the activities. This means the manager must allocate the resources appropriately to the apt places where it is required. To avoid a situation of rework, the managerial strategy of overlooking the task progress can be done. Also, for making the decision over discontinue or close the project, stakeholder meeting, kind of strategy can be followed.
